The Sisters Brothers

The Sisters Brothers went far below my expectations and bored my dad and I to death.

The Sisters Brothers open up to a gun fight between Eli Sisters (John C. Reilly) along with his brother, Charlie Sisters (Joaquin Phoenix), as they fight to kill their target. The Sisters Brothers act as hitmen for a guy called, The Commodore. They are instructed to go and kill a chemist named, Hermann Kermit Warm (Riz Ahmed).
So I went into this film expecting to go and see a fun western movie, and what I go was a borefest. Granted the opening scene was good and the action was fine. However, the film just goes downhill after that. It takes to long to get the ball rolling and at one point it feels like they abandoned the plot altogether in the film. There is so much wasted potential in this movie I'm honestly shocked by how bad it really was. I saw this in an AMC Theater, and they are already overpriced, but this movie was not worth the ticket for admission it was printed on! Honestly it feels like they just pumped out this movie for a quick buck.
I like John C. Reilly, and there are other films that he's in that I enjoyed, but he doesn't bring much into this film. Yet his character Eli, is one of the better acted characters. Riz Ahmed seemed familiar to me and when I watched this film, I swear that I saw him in something else, and lo and behold, I have. Riz is not a bad actor, he just chose a bad film. Joaquin Phoenix is an alright actor in this movie, and he remains static throughout.
Towards the end of the film, the action gets kinda dull as it was like the filmmakers were running out of ideas just to keep the film going as long as they could. Honestly this movie should have been cut at least a half hour in length. For the most part the camera work was fine, and the music was slightly forgettable.
Would I recommend seeing this movie? It might be good to watch if you're having trouble sleeping and you need something to help you drift off to more pleasant dreams, because The Sisters Brothers is one movie I want to fade away.

final score: 2.3/5

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi

Coda Movie Review

Coda Movie Review This Deserved Best Picture So, I just got back from seeing Coda, and it was amazing! This was the second attempt to see this film as the first time, someone booked the entire theater for a private screening. I'm going to take from a summary from IMDB to summarize the plot: " As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents." The acting was  phenomenal, the  cinematography was beautiful, and the story was human. The way this film is crafted is nothing short but excellent. I will not that not everything is 100% accurate, but for narrative reasons, I understand the choices they made. The actors have amazing chemistry together. Everything feels natural between them and they all bring their characters to life. No performance fell flat. I perhaps would
