31 Posts Of Halloween: Childs Play

So, last night I watched the movie Childs Play on amazon. This was the first time I have ever watched the film. It wasn't bad, just not as good as I had expected.

I have heard much hype around Childs Play, and I have watched a little bit of the sequels. Yet I still haven't seen the original, and everyone was telling me to go and watch the original. So, I did.
The acting in this movie is alright. I'm not saying that it's bad, far from that, but to me, it just seems passible. The performances are not outstanding, but the actors to play there parts well enough that the story flows nicely. At some points though, their acting does seem a little stilted.  Then again for the circumstances of the movie it was okay, I guess.
Now Chucky the doll himself, that dude was a fun villain. For a horror film, he wasn't really that scary, but he was for sure entertaining. I do enjoy the POV shots that they do in the film to show Chucky moving around before they actually show that he is alive.
Nothing stands out much in the was for the color scheme in this movie. I didn't notice much of a theme that they could have gone for, and I don't know if that was intentional or not. The music for the movie was pretty forgettable.
Overall though, this is a classic 80's horror movie and I appreciate it for what it is. I just think that this movie could have be made a little better. It is worth watching at least once if you are a fan of the horror genre. If you saw the movie, let me know in the comments what you thought of it, if you liked it or not, and why?

final score: 3/5

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi...

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Coda Movie Review

Coda Movie Review This Deserved Best Picture So, I just got back from seeing Coda, and it was amazing! This was the second attempt to see this film as the first time, someone booked the entire theater for a private screening. I'm going to take from a summary from IMDB to summarize the plot: " As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents." The acting was  phenomenal, the  cinematography was beautiful, and the story was human. The way this film is crafted is nothing short but excellent. I will not that not everything is 100% accurate, but for narrative reasons, I understand the choices they made. The actors have amazing chemistry together. Everything feels natural between them and they all bring their characters to life. No per...
