The Greatest Showmen Movie Review

So last night I saw the movie The Greatest Showmen, and it wasn't as good as I thought it would be, which was a big let down for me. Don't get me wrong, the movie has a strong opening, and it really is good, but this movie feels a bit rushed. I will have some minor spoilers in here regarding the music and story in this movie. Some of it is good, but some of it is really bad. In the beginning of the film, like the first 10 minutes the main character's dad dies, and they have an upbeat poppy song playing when clearly the kid looks sad that his father is dead, I think that this was a poor choice. The music in this musical sounds eerily similar, and the songs all sound very upbeat almost all of the time. Even the sadder songs, they are still upbeat. It sounds like whomever composed this music, that this wasn't a passion project to them, it was just a paycheck. I would be lying if I said that the music wasn't a bit diverse, but this is no La La Land . The main charac

Recommended Music I Found in 2017

I typically love Rock music, but this year I decided to expand out a little and try some different genres of music. So I will suggest 5 songs (that have been around not just this year) that you should check out that you probably didn't hear this year (links to youtube vids will be provided). The first song I am going to recommend is Chop Suey, By Robyn Adele Anderson. This is a Jazz cover of Chop Suey by System of a Down. It works really well as a jazz song, and I really appreciate the vocals on this track. Click here  to listen. The next song is The Curse, by Agnes Obel. This is a Folk song with some Classical inspiration, as I would describe it. The song is very relaxing, and the instrumentals are artfully preformed and the vocals are gorgeous. I admit though that this song didn't come out this year, but a few years ago. Anyways, click  here  to listen. The next song is In Hell I'll Be In Good Company, by The Dead South. This Blue Grass song is well done overall, an

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Movie Review

So, last night I went and saw Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, with some friends, and I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Going in I had low expectations, granted the movie is no masterpiece, but it is enjoyable enough to warrant a watch. A minor spoiler: This movie is a sequel to the original. The acting was really good, especially since the had an almost all-star comedic cast which is really nice to see. When the jokes land, they really do land. The Rock was really funny, and so was Jack Black. I haven't seen Jack Black in anything recently so it was nice to see him in a film again. The other cast members did a really good job too portraying their characters. The color scheme was very bright, which complemented the comedic tones of the overall film. Granted that's a given for comedies, but I just had a feeling that I wanted to point that out just for this movie. The music was not to memorable (by that I mean not much of an original score), except when you hear the

Father Figures Movie Review

So I just saw the movie Father Figures. It was a nice little film that was well acted and it had a good plot twist towards the end of the film. The story follows two brothers that are trying to figure out who their real dad is, and then an adventure ensues. The camera work was good, not outstanding but good. The color scheme fit the film really well, and I think that they really made a good choice for the tone that they were going for. The music however, wasn't that memorable. Their was some cringe in the comedy at times, yet there were still some laugh out loud moments that were good enough. Also the moments when there was dramatic moments in the movie, it was well preformed. Overall though, I would recommend seeing this one when it comes out on tv. It gives a feel that it won't really be remembered, but not's not a bad watch at all. final score: 3/5

The Disaster Artist Movie Review

So earlier today with some friends I went and saw the movie, The Disaster Artist, and this is one worth seeing! The comedy in this film is on point, and to the point were it is not overbearing, and it is enjoyable enough that it makes you want to see this movie again, and again. The film follows Tommy Wiseau, and his friend Greg as they make the infamous movie, The Room. I do plan on doing a review for The Room at some point in the future. The Room is a cult classic onto itself, and this movie portrays the making of this film, in a very fun, energetic, and creative way. The music in this movie fits perfectly with the tone that it is going for, and it is extremely effective in the entire film. The lighting was well done along with the color scheme, which with the two blended really made the film pop. The camera work was captivating and can truly hold your interest, and there were some pretty good shots in it. The acting was superb, and everyone that was involved in the making of t

Why Disney? Why? (XMen)

Okay... Okay... I'm a little pissed as I am writing this. So Disney bought most of Fox... CRAP, CRAP, CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wrote a post a while ago called  Why Fox's X-Men Franchise is the best Superhero Franchise . Disney now owns Pixar, Lucasfilm Ltd., Marvel Studios, and most of Fox. They are basically becoming a monopoly at this point. I am worried that Disney will start to censor new X-Men material. Especially since X-Men was starting to go in the right direction with films like Logan, and Deadpool, I plan to see the X-Men movies that are coming out next year, but it concerns me that they will try to do a crossover with Marvel. The future looks bleak to me regarding this franchise.
