31 Posts Of Halloween: Angelica

Angelica is a 2015 gothic horror film set in Victorian England, which is pretty decent.

Angelica is about a young couple that has a daughter. The couple is of the mother, Constance (Jena Malone), and the father, Dr. Joseph Barton (Ed Stoppard). It's probably then a given, that their daughter's name is Angelica. Constance starts to become more protective of her daughter, and soon some ghostly things start happening around the house.
I was surprised to find out that the actress that plays Constance, Jena Malone, also played Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games Franchise.
This is a dark film, and by dark I mean in tone but not in overall style. It gives a glimpse into the lives of people from another time who just so happen to suffer from a supernatural plight. I did find the tone of the film quite interesting. Yet the entire style is in a word, captivating.
Angelica is one film that I will want to have a second viewing of, because I feel as though it will require it. Granted this isn't a great film, and this will be liked or disliked based on your own tastes, but I did find myself enjoying it somewhat.

final score: 3/5

Coda Movie Review

Coda Movie Review This Deserved Best Picture So, I just got back from seeing Coda, and it was amazing! This was the second attempt to see this film as the first time, someone booked the entire theater for a private screening. I'm going to take from a summary from IMDB to summarize the plot: " As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents." The acting was  phenomenal, the  cinematography was beautiful, and the story was human. The way this film is crafted is nothing short but excellent. I will not that not everything is 100% accurate, but for narrative reasons, I understand the choices they made. The actors have amazing chemistry together. Everything feels natural between them and they all bring their characters to life. No per...
