Leon: The Professional Movie Review

Leon: The Professional Movie Review

A good film, with some odd moments

Leon: The Professional is a film that follows a young girl named Mathilda (Natalie Portman), as her family is murdered, and she seeks the help of a hitman named Leon (Jean Reno), who just so happens to live right next door.
I found myself enjoying this 1994 film greatly, even though there are some awkward moments in the film. I still have a lot of good to say about Leon The Professional.
So, I believe the was one of Natalie Portman's first rolls, and she does very well in the film. Granted there are a few 90's cringe scenes that they have her portray, but I don't fault her, more the script itself. Jean Reno, as Leon, is an interesting non-static character, which could be viewed as surprising by how dynamic he really is. The interaction between Natalie Portman, and Jean Reno is seamless, and natural. I found myself engrossed in the relationship that was built between the characters and it adds to the drama of the film in a very natural light.
The action scenes in the movie are also very well put together, and if you are a fan of action, you will enjoy this movie. Granted it's not action packed to the max, but when there is action in the film, oh boy, you are in for a treat.
The flaws that present themselves in the movie are minimal. Like I mentioned above, they do have Natalie Portman do a couple of very cringe inducing scenes, but thank God they are few and far between. I think the reason they had her do those scenes was more due to the attitude towards child actors at the time, because lets face it, 90's films don't portray kids that well.
In the end, I really did like this movie and I think I would watch it again. It's one of those films that just gets most things right and you appreciate it. The good parts of the film heavily outweigh the bad, because, Leon: The Professional, is a fantastic movie.

final score: 4.4/5

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Norsemen Netflix Show Review So Far

Norsemen Netflix Show Review So Far The funniest show I've seen in years I've been watching a show on Netflix called Norsemen, and I swear this is the funniest show I've seen in years! I can't understate how funny this show can really be, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say about 90% of the jokes land. Norsemen starts off in 790 AD, and follows a few Vikings and their slaves. The show goes through their lives and their trials, but it's done with a comedic spin. If you haven't yet, watch the trailer above to get a better idea of the show. I will say this, this show reminds me of Monty Python ! Some of the jokes Norsemen  are gut busting, and will almost have you rolling on the floor laughing. In an age of bad comedies this show is gold.  I just started watching season 2 the other day, and I just want to keep watching. The episodes are about a half hour long each, and it's the perfect time frame to get the story across. I wouldn't c...
