Outlaw King Movie Review

Outlaw King Movie Review

Outlaw King is a fantastic historical film

Outlaw King is a 2018 historical film on Netflix that follows the tale of Robert the Bruce (Chris Pine), as he strikes up another rebellion against the English Crown. The film opens at the end of the Scottish rebellion that involved William Wallace. The Scottish lords are re-swearing their allegiance to the English crown, and Robert the Bruce is to be married to the king's goddaughter. After a bit of time, once they populace discovers that William Wallace has been executed, Robert the Bruce strikes up another rebellion against the English, but will it work this time?
So, first off I want to say that I love historical films. From what I gather, this film is very historically accurate, and I love that! I don't know much about this time period in history, I myself learn more about Roman, specifically I'm interested in late Republican times, and I'm also interested in the American Founding. Yet I found myself greatly enjoying this mid-evil period piece. It was pretty cool seeing people wear gambesons, and all that sweat sweat chainmail. Also they showed different kinds of weapons used in combat other than swords which is fantastic!
I have to give you dear reader a warning about this film. Some of the blood and gore involved are pretty graphic. I would say it's more graphic then some other historical films, So I just wanted to give you that warning.
This movie has made me want to read more about Robert the Bruce. It's a fascinating period, and it's a story that most of us haven't heard. Also from what I hear, this movie is more historically accurate than Braveheart, and to be honest, I can believe that.
The acting in this film is pretty darn good. Chris Pine does a fantastic job in the film, and this is probably one of the best works that I've seen him in. The other actors in the film also do a fine job as well. I don't think there was an actor that I could specifically point out as being bad.
I throughly enjoyed myself with this film and I feel like it's one that I will come back to and rewatch multiple times in the future. The cinematography was great and the acting was amazing, also I believe they filmed the whole movie in Scotland. If you haven't seen, Outlaw King, this is one of the must see films of the year!

final score: 4.3/5

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi...

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Penny Dreadful City Of Angels Season 1 Episode 1 Review

Penny Dreadful City Of Angels Season 1 Episode 1 Review  Had To Think About This One A Bit If you haven't noticed, I'm a fan of Penny Dreadful . I did address my early thoughts on the new series a little while ago , and now that it's out, I thought I would give my thoughts on the first episode. For the description I'm going to quote IMDB , " Los Angeles, 1938. LAPD detective Tiago Vega and his partner, Lewis Michener, investigate a murder. While at City Hall, Tiago's activist brother Raul Vega battles with the fiery Councilman Charlton Townsend over the construction of California's first freeway. Meanwhile, Peter Craft, the head of the German-American Bun, meets Elsa, the mysterious mother of one of his patients. Sensing danger, Tiago's mother Maria pleads with Santa Muerte to protect her family as the rising tensions in the city threaten to explode." From what I've seen from other reviewers has been very mixed. And here's my two...
