History Week! The Lost City Of Z

The Lost City Of Z is a 2016 historical adventure film, that does take you on a fun experience.

The Lost City Of Z follows Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam) in 1906 as he is a Major in the British Army and is tasked with surveying a border in the Amazon Rain Forrest. During his time spent there, he uncovers some artifacts that lead him to believe there's a lost city in the jungle, and he becomes determined to find it.
This movie was fantastic! I had such a fun time with the adventure and history. The film starts out in 1906 but it does go beyond and skips around going forward a few years. Don't worry, it's not jarring like some films are when they skip ahead in time, this film does it naturally.
When I was watch The Lost City of Z I thought to myself, that the lead actor who plays Percy, gosh he looks familiar. But turns out he was in another film I greatly enjoyed, but didn't receive much praise, that King Arthur movie that came out last year. I love Charlie Hunnam in it! After seeing him in two films now, I want to go and watch some of his other work.
The environment of the jungle is beautiful, captivating, and yet a sense of danger always looms overhead as Percy and his party continue exploring. They could come across a hungry wild animal, or a hostile native tribe at any moment!
I'm not entirely sure to the historical accuracy of this film, however I'm now interested in learning more about Major Percy Fawcett and his explorations. Like most historical films, I'm guessing they got the main points right, but they dramatized some of the smaller stuff, and that works very well in this film.
The Lost City Of Z gave me a fun adventure, and not just any adventure, one that really grabs you and makes you pay attention. Like any film, it has it's problems, but they are few and far between. I would rewatch this film, and I'm sad I didn't get the chance to see it in theaters, because The Lost City Of Z is worth seeing.

final score: 4.5/5

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi...

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Coda Movie Review

Coda Movie Review This Deserved Best Picture So, I just got back from seeing Coda, and it was amazing! This was the second attempt to see this film as the first time, someone booked the entire theater for a private screening. I'm going to take from a summary from IMDB to summarize the plot: " As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents." The acting was  phenomenal, the  cinematography was beautiful, and the story was human. The way this film is crafted is nothing short but excellent. I will not that not everything is 100% accurate, but for narrative reasons, I understand the choices they made. The actors have amazing chemistry together. Everything feels natural between them and they all bring their characters to life. No per...
