Million Dollar Baby Movie Review

Million Dollar Baby is a 2004 boxing film directed and staring Clint Eastwood.

Million Dollar Baby follows the journey of a girl named Maggie (Hillary Swank), and she has a strong desire to become a boxer. She trains at a gym run by a man named Frankie (Clint Eastwood) and his friend Eddie (Morgan Freeman). Maggie constantly tries to get Frankie to train her, but he keeps resisting, until eventually he finally agrees to train her.
I want to say this right off the bat and that is every actor in this movie does a great job! Hillary Swank is amazing! Clint Eastwood, as always is a fantastic actor, and his character is really well rounded. Morgan Freeman also does a great job, and his character sort of acts as the narrator of the film.
Million Dollar Baby is such an engrossing film, it demands every second of your attention and it holds it with an iron grip. The film almost says, if you look away then it's going to give you an uppercut.
Clint Eastwood is a fantastic director, and it shows yet again in this film. He has such an array of talent in the movie making process it's honestly impressive what he has accomplished. Yet one flaw of his is that he always seems to play the same character archetype. You might know it as sort of the gruff old man that has a heart but it needs some working at to get out.
I'm really happy that I watched Million Dollar Baby. I don't usually watch boxing films, but this one is just so well done, it kept my interest to the point which I'll probably want to watch this movie again.

final score: 4.2/5

Coda Movie Review

Coda Movie Review This Deserved Best Picture So, I just got back from seeing Coda, and it was amazing! This was the second attempt to see this film as the first time, someone booked the entire theater for a private screening. I'm going to take from a summary from IMDB to summarize the plot: " As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents." The acting was  phenomenal, the  cinematography was beautiful, and the story was human. The way this film is crafted is nothing short but excellent. I will not that not everything is 100% accurate, but for narrative reasons, I understand the choices they made. The actors have amazing chemistry together. Everything feels natural between them and they all bring their characters to life. No per...
