Jojo Rabbit Movie Review

A Really Good Movie

I just got back from seeing Jojo Rabbit at the theater with one of my friends and this film was really good but not in the way I expected.
Jojo Rabbit is a WWII based film that follows a young German boy named Jojo (Roman Griffin Davis) as he is a fanatic of the Nazis. But when he discovers his mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a Jewish Girl named Elsa (Thomasin McKenzi), self doubt about who he really is creeps in. Is Jojo really a Nazi? Or just a kid caught up in difficult situation trying to figure out right from wrong?
Taika Waititi did a fantastic job Directing, Writing, and Acting in this film. Jojo Rabbit was a bit darker than I thought it would be and had a lot more heart too. I went in expecting a full on comedy, but Jojo Rabbit is way more than that.
First off, I want to applaud the cast. Roman Griffin Davis, Scarlett Johansson, Taika Waititi, and Thomasin McKenzi all did a great job in this film. They really embodied their characters and everyone seemed to work well with each other. I couldn't imagine changing the cast for one freaking second.
This film had a lot more heart than I thought it would have. I mean damn, does this movie have heart. It builds character relationships in such a natural way it's almost as if we as the audience aren't watching a film, and if this didn't have the comedy that it did, I could have sworn that this was based on a true story.
The balance from going between comedy, tension, fear, and drama is well crafted and the cast really makes the script shine! There is a natural flow to Jojo Rabbit that makes me love every second of it! I love it when a film can get that perfect balance and this film did.
For complaints, I don't have many. There are a couple characters I would have liked to have seen a bit more of, and If they made this movie around ten minutes longer I think I'd be fine with that. I guess that could be another complaint, I think this movie should be a little longer. This isn't a bad complaint if that makes sense. I wanted to spend more time with these characters.
The release schedule for this film is freaking odd. I think we can agree on that, can we? But I'm sure glad that I got the chance to see Jojo Rabbit.
If you're looking for a film and Jojo Rabbit is playing at your local theater, then I'd suggest taking the day to go and see it. Jojo Rabbit really is a good film.

final score: 4.5/5

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi

Coda Movie Review

Coda Movie Review This Deserved Best Picture So, I just got back from seeing Coda, and it was amazing! This was the second attempt to see this film as the first time, someone booked the entire theater for a private screening. I'm going to take from a summary from IMDB to summarize the plot: " As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents." The acting was  phenomenal, the  cinematography was beautiful, and the story was human. The way this film is crafted is nothing short but excellent. I will not that not everything is 100% accurate, but for narrative reasons, I understand the choices they made. The actors have amazing chemistry together. Everything feels natural between them and they all bring their characters to life. No performance fell flat. I perhaps would
