The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina Season 2 Review
Not As Good As Season 1 But Still Alright
If you haven't read my season 1 review of the Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina Then you might want to check that out first. Anyways I just finished season 2/part 2 (I'm going to refer to it as season 2) a few days ago, and it was pretty good, but not as good as it could have been.
The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina Season 2 picks up a little bit after Sabrina signed her name in the book. She has to manage going back and forth between her mortal friends, and her new life as a full witch.
I really hoped this season was going to be good, and for the most part it was, but I don't think it lived up to it's full potential.
Kiernan Shipka did a great job as Sabrina again. Honestly I think this actress will have some big titles in her future. She really does have some good acting chops. As for the rest of the cast, they all did pretty well. My problem is not with the acting, but more with the script it seems.
There isn't much conflict for the side characters, or nothing very new. If there is something, the problem is introduced and resolved fairly quickly, somewhat within one episode it seemed. I just wish we had more time to see how these characters feel about their situation(s). I guess I wanted more character development than I got, but what was done was done alright. I really think the characters deserved more screen time so we could get a better understanding of them and their struggles in this season.
I really wanted to see more Salem in this season, but I don't recall him being involved much. It kinda sucks, and I hope we get to see more of him in Season 3, I'd love to see an episode of character development between Salem and Sabrina.
Now onto some good things about the season. I really liked some of the plot twists in the latter episodes. There were a few really good ones in there. No Spoilers, but I didn't expect it to end the way it did. The season finale took me in a direction I didn't see coming, and I honestly enjoyed myself watching it play out.
The camera work is still pretty solid in season 2 as well. The toned it down from season 1 a bit, but it's still pretty effective.
I think the music and other sound effects were pretty good as well and held about the same quality as season 1. The theme song is pretty enjoyable.
I think season 2 was pretty good overall, but it could have been better. I feared that they would rush it, and I have a sneaking suspicion that I may be a smidge right. Minus my complaints I think the season was pretty solid overall. I can't wait to see what happens in the Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, when season 3 comes around!
final score: 3.7/5
