Thunder Road Movie Review

One Of The Best Films I've Seen In Years

A bit ago I saw this masterpiece of a film, Thunder Road, written, directed, and starring Jim Cummings.
Thunder Road follows a glimpse in the life of a cop, Officer Jim Arnaud (Jim Cummings) as his life starts to fall apart. His wife is divorcing him, his young daughter doesn't want anything to do with him, and his mother just died. He is forced to go through so much before he reaches his breaking point.
Alright, I'm going to say it, Jim Cummings as Officer Jim Arnaud is one of the best acting performances I've seen in years. Thunder Road delivers some of the best and most realistic acting and should be a mandatory watch for anyone wanting to go into acting. I can't praise Jim Cummings performance enough, the way he portrays his character is so realistic, Jim Arnaud seems just like a guy you could go and meet, and he'd be a real freaking person. You know how some actors aren't as good and you can obviously tell they're just acting? Well watching Thunder Road is like I'm a bystander to someone else's life. The acting from the other actors in the film is top notch as well, and I applaud all of them.
Jim Cummings as a director did a fantastic job! His style is so engaging and drew me in so intensely, I have a strong desire to see more of his work. While many films out of Hollywood these days are pretty much crap, Thunder Road is a light in the darkness.
The cinematography is outstanding and even though many of the shots are standard, they convey the story well. It's obvious Thunder Road had a competent crew and their investment into the film really shows.
The music and the use of silence is very effective in the movie, and each in turn is placed in the appropriate place.
Overall, I absolutely loved Thunder Road and would rewatch it again and again. This is one of those films that comes around once in a blue moon.

final score: 5/5

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi...

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Penny Dreadful City Of Angels Season 1 Episode 1 Review

Penny Dreadful City Of Angels Season 1 Episode 1 Review  Had To Think About This One A Bit If you haven't noticed, I'm a fan of Penny Dreadful . I did address my early thoughts on the new series a little while ago , and now that it's out, I thought I would give my thoughts on the first episode. For the description I'm going to quote IMDB , " Los Angeles, 1938. LAPD detective Tiago Vega and his partner, Lewis Michener, investigate a murder. While at City Hall, Tiago's activist brother Raul Vega battles with the fiery Councilman Charlton Townsend over the construction of California's first freeway. Meanwhile, Peter Craft, the head of the German-American Bun, meets Elsa, the mysterious mother of one of his patients. Sensing danger, Tiago's mother Maria pleads with Santa Muerte to protect her family as the rising tensions in the city threaten to explode." From what I've seen from other reviewers has been very mixed. And here's my two...
