Iridescent Book Review

Iridescent Book Review

A Fun Adventure I Highly Recommend

I will admit, I'm a slow reader. I thought I would have finished Iridescent by Bailey Joseph Grabel months ago. Alas, life came up and prevented me from finishing as early as I'd hoped. Yet I found myself enthralled in a grand adventure and one of the best books I've read in the past few years.
Iridescent follows a man called Ghostwalker, and his pet wolf in the Ashland's of civilization. It's been nineteen years since the end of the world. Those lucky enough to survive formed settlements, but mutant creatures lurk. When some unforeseen killings occur by a beast unlike any other, Ghostwalker and Wolf are set to protect humanity from possible extinction.
I'm a picky reader. It takes me forever to find a book I think looks good, and by golly Iridescent is fantastic!
I think I caught maybe two typos in the whole book, which is pretty good. Also, it doesn't detract from the overall quality of Iridescent. I did find the writing style itself to be unique, and welcoming. It seemed fresh and made with passion. I greatly enjoyed the quality of the literature.
The book does something interesting by switching between perspectives of Ghostwalker, and Wolf. Switching between the two perspectives gave more insight into the characters and portrayed strong growth.
The story itself held my attention. Iridescent surprised me with how brutal it was in some scenes, and how heartbreakingly touching in others. The characters are well rounded and none of them feel flat at any point.
I believe this is Bailey Joseph Grabel's debut novel, and he did such a great job! I really hope he publishes more work in the future. If he ever writes a sequel to Iridescent, I know I'll be picking it up pronto.
The action is well paced, and each scene feels necessary for the story. There never truly was a dull moment in my opinion. Some of the character who were killed off surprised me, and I'm glad those that survived, did.
If you're looking for the next book to read, send some love towards Iridescent and get the book today. It was a fun time I'm glad I got to experience.

final score: 4.5/5

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi

Coda Movie Review

Coda Movie Review This Deserved Best Picture So, I just got back from seeing Coda, and it was amazing! This was the second attempt to see this film as the first time, someone booked the entire theater for a private screening. I'm going to take from a summary from IMDB to summarize the plot: " As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents." The acting was  phenomenal, the  cinematography was beautiful, and the story was human. The way this film is crafted is nothing short but excellent. I will not that not everything is 100% accurate, but for narrative reasons, I understand the choices they made. The actors have amazing chemistry together. Everything feels natural between them and they all bring their characters to life. No performance fell flat. I perhaps would
