Godzilla King Of The Monsters Movie Review

Godzilla King Of The Monsters Movie Review Good Visuals, Bad Script  I just saw the new Godzilla King Of The Monsters Movie, and I really had high hopes for this film, but it feel short. Godzilla King Of The Monsters a government organization called Monarch and more specifically a family torn apart as Titans awaken and wreak havoc upon the earth. I want to say the good first. Whenever Godzilla or any of the monsters are on the screen, then it's a visual spectacle. Seriously the team that made Godzilla and the other monsters, well done guys, pat yourselves on the back! Now onto the bad. The dialogue sucks. It's just bad. There's no emotional investment from the actors, which is surprising because the movie has such a good cast of actors. You may be thinking to yourself, "Quintessentialist, what the high heck are you talking about? It's a action film where monsters fight each other! Enjoy the action!" Well you'd be right if the film focused more on...

John Wick Chapter 3 Parabellum Movie Review

John Wick Chapter 3 Parabellum Movie Review A Classy Mortal Kombat Wow just wow! I literally just got home from seeing John Wick Chapter 3 Parabellum (I'm just going to call it John Wick 3 for the rest of the review) and hot diggity damn, was this a fun film! John Wick 3 starts only a little bit after 2 ends. John is racing against the clock in the first few minutes for final preparations before he's excommunicated. Once he is, all hell breaks loose. Will he be able to reverse his fate? I want to say, this poster is pretty damn cool. Anyways, onto the movie, Keanu Reeves returns to his roll as John Wick, and he does a fantastic job as ever. The color scheme was top notch, the camera work was fantastic, and the action was a blast. My only gripe with the film is that it does feel a little long at times, and there was one scene which should have been shortened, but the rest was fine. As I said in my Chapter 2 review , Keanu Reeves was in his element. I swear that man...

John Wick Chapter 2 Movie Review

John Wick Chapter 2 Movie Review A Fantastic Action Packed Sequel  John Wick Chapter 2 is a phenomenal film! I've seen it multiple times, and each time I watch it, it just gets better. John Wick Chapter 2 starts out a little after the first movie has ended. John has gotten his revenge and now wants to go back into retirement. Yet when he is called upon to fulfill a promise he made long time ago, he refuses. Thus the hunter becomes the hunted. John Wick Chapter 2 is great. If you haven't read my review for the first film, I'd recommend doing so, and also watching the first film too. Keanu Reeves is back and as good as ever. I swear that man is the best action star of this decade. When we think of action stars, we think of Indiana Jones, John McClane, Rick O'Connell, James Bond, and now we can add John Wick to such an epic list. John Wick Chapter 2 seems to be a bit more stylized than the first film. The colors are more dramatic, and it adds to the over...

John Wick Movie Review

John Wick Movie Review  A Fantastic Action Film I've seen John Wick a couple of times, and I thought I reviewed it already. Apparently, I haven't. So here's the long overdue review of, John Wick. John Wick follows, John Wick ( Keanu Reeves ) as a retired assassin. One day when a group of guys, kill his dog and steal his car, he goes out seeking vengeance.  I swear this might be my favorite Keanu Reeves movie so far. The action in John Wick is just incredible. The acting is top notch for the genre, and Keanu Reeves gives a fantastic performance! Let's dig into this movie a little further.  If you haven't seen this film and you love action, it's a must. The fights are so fun to watch and you can clearly see Keanu Reeves enjoying himself here. There's style and a lack of quick jarring cuts. You actually get to see the fight happening without 20 cuts in five freaking seconds, crazy right? Who would actually show you the action? Well, apparently J...

Detective Pikachu Movie Review

Detective Pikachu Movie Review Your Kids Will Like This I saw Detective Pikachu over the weekend and if you grew up with Pokemon then you'll probably get some enjoyment. Detective Pikachu follows a young man named Tim and a Pikachu with whom he can talk too. They go on an adventure in search of Tim's dad, and to figure out Pikachu's past. If I was a little kid, I would have had a blast with this film. Yet I'm not a little kid, so how does Detective Pikachu stand up as a film? The answer is... meh. Look there've been tons of good and bad kids films, and Detective Pikachu falls somewhere in the middle. The animation of the Pokemon is really well done, however the dialogue is pretty stilted. The actors never 100% felt like they were getting into their roles.  The film tries to have heart, but it fails. It's not a miserable fail, but it just didn't seem genuine at any time in the film.  This is going to be a pretty short review. I wanted to like...

Avengers Endgame Movie Review

Avengers Endgame Movie Review A Good Movie, But Infinity War Was Better I know I know, I'm late to reviewing Endgame. There has been some stuff in my personal life which has been taking up my time from the blog. If you're interested, check my last update . Anyways, onto the review. Avengers Endgame starts right off from Infinity War. If I go any further than that, I fear I'm going into spoiler territory. The beginning and ending of this film are fantastic! Seriously, they're the best parts of the movie. They were very well acted. The action scenes are done very well in the film. It truly was a fun time whenever the action came on. I was surprised the characters which were focused on in the film. As you know, Captain Marvel just came out a couple months ago, and the way they were hyping her, felt like she was going to be really important to Endgame . She barley was in the movie, and she really didn't do anything which I was surprised about. A couple of...

Update: Vacation, Reviews, and Other Goodies

Hey guys, just an update post. So I've been working on a bunch of stuff outside of the blog. It's been taking up my time, and I would like to write more here, and if you're a regular, you probably want to see more content. There are a couple of ways you can help if you're up for it. But first, I have an announcement. I will be going on vacation in a couple of weeks. I'll be gone the first half of June, but don't worry, I'll schedule a couple of reviews during that time. As you may know, I'm from the MidWest. I'll be headed out to the East Coast, during my time gone. The places I'll be going are sort of a dream vacation for me, and I'll post some pictures when I get back. I'll probably have at least two or three reviews scheduled for you guys while I'm gone. If you want to help me out so I'll be able to post more frequently, below I've listed a few ways you can. If you do any of these, thank you a ton! It really means a lot...

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile Movie Review

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile Movie Review An Eerie, Thrilling, Disturbing Film I watched Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile a couple of days ago, and I found myself enjoying the movie. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is based on the Ted Bundy Trials. Ted ( Zac Efron ) is never really shown committing his heinous crimes. Instead we view the film switching between his perspective and his long time (ex)girlfriend, Liz Kendall ( Lily Collins ). I understand this film is not getting the best ratings , but I still found myself enjoying the film. I don't think it should be getting as much flack as it is. When you get a film like this, there are two was to view it. The first is from a historical perspective, and the second is from a cinematic perspective. All, 'based on true story' films are changed and either over or under dramatized. They usually get the main events down, but change some details. I'm not to familiar with the Ted B...

Iridescent Book Review

Iridescent Book Review A Fun Adventure I Highly Recommend I will admit, I'm a slow reader. I thought I would have finished Iridescent by Bailey Joseph Grabel months ago. Alas, life came up and prevented me from finishing as early as I'd hoped. Yet I found myself enthralled in a grand adventure and one of the best books I've read in the past few years. Iridescent follows a man called Ghostwalker, and his pet wolf in the Ashland's of civilization. It's been nineteen years since the end of the world. Those lucky enough to survive formed settlements, but mutant creatures lurk. When some unforeseen killings occur by a beast unlike any other, Ghostwalker and Wolf are set to protect humanity from possible extinction. I'm a picky reader. It takes me forever to find a book I think looks good, and by golly Iridescent is fantastic! I think I caught maybe two typos in the whole book, which is pretty good. Also, it doesn't detract from the overall quality...
