The Witcher: The Last Wish Book Review

An Entertaining Fantasy Book

A while ago I read the first Witcher book, The Last Wish. I once played like 5 minutes of, The Witcher 2 game and watched the show on Netflix but, this book was really a proper introduction to what the series was about for me.
The Witcher: The Last Wish is a collection of short stories that follows a Witcher, Geralt. Geralt travels across the world fighting monsters and making a few friends along the way.
Ok I oversimplified the plot, but it really was a while ago since I read this book. I do remember some things about it though. The characters were well written, the pacing was pretty good, and it was fun reading about all the different types of monsters.
I haven't read many books in the fantasy genre, but I thought this book was pretty good for an outsider looking in. The Last Wish does a great job of establishing Geralt as a character and I got a pretty good sense of who he is. The other characters seemed to stand apart from one another and that was another plus in my book.
What I really liked about this book is that it's a collection of short stories but continuing one narrative. It almost felt episodic at some points. I could read a chapter a day and at that pace it had a natural feel to it. The book never really dragged.
The different types of monsters that Geralt would encounter was also pretty neat. Each creature had it's features that really stood apart from the rest and it kept the book fresh. There were some I liked more than others, but I didn't dislike any.
Even though this was an English version, this was my first introduction to Polish literature. I have to say I am interested in reading more and seeing what else Polish authors have to offer. I'm considering continuing The Witcher series as well.
I don't have any really pressing negatives for this book and the ones that I do have are so minor that they have escaped my mind. If you're looking to read something fun in the fantasy genre, and you don't know where to start, The Last Wish might be a good pick.

final score: 4/5

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Norsemen Netflix Show Review So Far

Norsemen Netflix Show Review So Far The funniest show I've seen in years I've been watching a show on Netflix called Norsemen, and I swear this is the funniest show I've seen in years! I can't understate how funny this show can really be, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say about 90% of the jokes land. Norsemen starts off in 790 AD, and follows a few Vikings and their slaves. The show goes through their lives and their trials, but it's done with a comedic spin. If you haven't yet, watch the trailer above to get a better idea of the show. I will say this, this show reminds me of Monty Python ! Some of the jokes Norsemen  are gut busting, and will almost have you rolling on the floor laughing. In an age of bad comedies this show is gold.  I just started watching season 2 the other day, and I just want to keep watching. The episodes are about a half hour long each, and it's the perfect time frame to get the story across. I wouldn't c...
