Green Book Movie Review

Green Book Movie Review

A Good Heartfelt Film

So I saw the film Green Book a little bit ago, and I must say, I greatly enjoyed this movie. I'm glad that I saw it, and I think I would want to see it again.
The movie follows an Italian man named Tony (Viggo Mortensen) as he is hired as a driver for an African-American pianist named Dr. Shirley (Mahershala Ali) as he is embarking on a concert tour through the south in the 1960s.
I absolutely loved this movie. Green Book is one of those heartfelt films, and I'll admit, I'm a sucker for them.
Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali, both did a fantastic job acting in this film. They played off of each other so well, and seemed as if they have worked on a hundred films together in the past. Their character progression seems natural and fitting to how the characters are portrayed. They each have likable qualities, and they seem as if they were made to play the rolls portrayed.
Music is such a humongous theme contained within the film. The music is truly beautiful, and the overall soundtrack is great. Green Book does a fantastic job with it's sound. It know's what it wants, and it plays it.
The lighting of the film is also very well done. There were never any shots overexposed or underexposed. Each and every scene on screen was perfectly lit, and added depth to the emotion of each scene.
The cinematography is good as well. The cameramen knew what they were doing and they made each shot run smoothly. I honestly can't say anything bad about any of the shots in Green Book as they were all pretty good.
The film was also well edited. I usually don't talk about editing in my reviews, but I do want to bring it up here. It was smooth and seamless, I have no complaints. The transitions from scene to scene were natural and always held my attention.
I honestly loved this movie and I think I just might buy it when it comes out on DVD. It has the feel of a film you would want to come back to as if you were saying hello to an old friend. If you haven't yet, you should add Green Book to your watch list, as it truly is such a beautifully heartfelt film. I know I will be driving up again to see Green Book.

final score: 4.9/5

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi

Coda Movie Review

Coda Movie Review This Deserved Best Picture So, I just got back from seeing Coda, and it was amazing! This was the second attempt to see this film as the first time, someone booked the entire theater for a private screening. I'm going to take from a summary from IMDB to summarize the plot: " As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents." The acting was  phenomenal, the  cinematography was beautiful, and the story was human. The way this film is crafted is nothing short but excellent. I will not that not everything is 100% accurate, but for narrative reasons, I understand the choices they made. The actors have amazing chemistry together. Everything feels natural between them and they all bring their characters to life. No performance fell flat. I perhaps would
