Silent Film Week! It Movie Review

It 1927 Silent Film, Movie Poster, Clara Bow

It Movie Review

A Simple But Fun Silent Film

It, is a 1927 silent film starring the original it girl, Clara Bow. The plot of the film is simple, yet it's still fun.
It follows a young shopgirl named Betty Lou (Clara Bow) as she sparks a romance with her boss.
Like I said, the plot is simple, but the movie is actually pretty good.
This was the first Clara Bow film I've seen and I can see why she was one of the top actresses for her time. There is a bit of wit and charm to her character and she plays it well. I greatly enjoyed her acting, and after seeing this film I want to see some of her other films as well. I've heard her film Wings is pretty good. I might even check out a collection of her work at some point. Honestly though, she was a a pretty good actress.
For modern audiences though, the plot may seem a bit simple. Just remember the time period and how new film still was during this time.
The film is labeled as a Romantic Comedy. I didn't find the film greatly funny, but there were a couple of good jokes sprinkled throughout the movie. It, is a pretty decent of the Romantic side of things, and generally keeping everything lighthearted overall.
The directing in It, was pretty good. I thought the way the directors crafted the film was well enough, and they knew what they wanted. Yes, It, had not one, but two directors for the film.
Now the film score was generally upbeat and I enjoyed myself listening to it as well. There was a certain archaic charm to the score in It, which I greatly appreciated. The music is pleasant and fits the film nicely.
Overall I think the film It, was good. The movie wasn't great, and it had it's own problems, but they are so minor and easily overlooked. If you want to see a good movie starring Hollywoods original it girl, then you should see the movie It.

final score: 4/5

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi...

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Penny Dreadful City Of Angels Season 1 Episode 1 Review

Penny Dreadful City Of Angels Season 1 Episode 1 Review  Had To Think About This One A Bit If you haven't noticed, I'm a fan of Penny Dreadful . I did address my early thoughts on the new series a little while ago , and now that it's out, I thought I would give my thoughts on the first episode. For the description I'm going to quote IMDB , " Los Angeles, 1938. LAPD detective Tiago Vega and his partner, Lewis Michener, investigate a murder. While at City Hall, Tiago's activist brother Raul Vega battles with the fiery Councilman Charlton Townsend over the construction of California's first freeway. Meanwhile, Peter Craft, the head of the German-American Bun, meets Elsa, the mysterious mother of one of his patients. Sensing danger, Tiago's mother Maria pleads with Santa Muerte to protect her family as the rising tensions in the city threaten to explode." From what I've seen from other reviewers has been very mixed. And here's my two...
