Disney has a comedy problem

So I watched a video by The Closer Look called, The Last Jedi - How Comedy Can Kill A Movie, and it got me thinking. For the most part Disney's comedy kinda sucks. I'm talking about those times that when there's a serious moment and they break the tension with comedy. They did it in black panther, age of ultron, and apparently the new Star Wars movies as well. If you know me then you know that I don't watch the new Star Wars movies as I don't consider what Disney is doing with them to really be in the original spirit of the franchise. You may have noticed this yourself. You also may have read my current unhappy feelings with Disney regarding certain things.
Yet I grew up loving Disney films, and in part they made me want to make movies. I'm talking about films like The Lion King, Peter Pan, and Mary Poppins. I have also heard that Disney has gone through many different ages since they have become a company, like their golden age, the dark age, their renaissance, and the modern age. With them throwing half baked jokes at people, it feels like they are again starting to slip into a new dark age.
Comedy is fine in movies, and I love comedy, but it doesn't need to be in every scene that there is a dramatic moment on screen. If the scene is a really emotionally intense moment, or the hero realizes something of great importance, and there is a ton of dramatic tension that builds upon itself and grasps your attention only to be broken by a side characters joke, then what was the point of having a serious scene if you are only going to play it off for laughs?
I might just be rambling off here, but at the same time, I think that Disney needs to do some reevaluating. It might just be getting to big for it's own good. I could be wrong, but I just see a downward spiral from here on out.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Norsemen Netflix Show Review So Far

Norsemen Netflix Show Review So Far The funniest show I've seen in years I've been watching a show on Netflix called Norsemen, and I swear this is the funniest show I've seen in years! I can't understate how funny this show can really be, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say about 90% of the jokes land. Norsemen starts off in 790 AD, and follows a few Vikings and their slaves. The show goes through their lives and their trials, but it's done with a comedic spin. If you haven't yet, watch the trailer above to get a better idea of the show. I will say this, this show reminds me of Monty Python ! Some of the jokes Norsemen  are gut busting, and will almost have you rolling on the floor laughing. In an age of bad comedies this show is gold.  I just started watching season 2 the other day, and I just want to keep watching. The episodes are about a half hour long each, and it's the perfect time frame to get the story across. I wouldn't c...
