Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) Movie Review

Good For Kids, But Not Old Fans

I just got out of seeing the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie. If you have really little kids like four or five year olds, it's good for them, but if you've been a Sonic fan for a long time, I'd say you should skip this movie.
For the synopsis, I'm just going to quote from IMDB, "Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG tells the story of the world's speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic."
I wasn't really feeling it from this version of Sonic. I was a big Sonic fan when I was a kid. Like a big fan. I played the games, read the comics, and watched the shows. However, this movie doesn't piss me off, as it's made for kids. I know some people will get up in arms about this and how it'll ruin Sonic, but I don't think it's worth going that far. This isn't a good movie, but for little kids, it's fine. The movie seems like it's being geared towards kids, and for kids this would be a decent flick to pass the time.
I don't have much else to say. The film wasn't for me. And for the other adults out there, you'll find the plot to be paint by numbers with a few decent jokes sprinkled in. Your kids will like it, but otherwise, I'd say skip the Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

final score: 2.7/5

Coda Movie Review

Coda Movie Review This Deserved Best Picture So, I just got back from seeing Coda, and it was amazing! This was the second attempt to see this film as the first time, someone booked the entire theater for a private screening. I'm going to take from a summary from IMDB to summarize the plot: " As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents." The acting was  phenomenal, the  cinematography was beautiful, and the story was human. The way this film is crafted is nothing short but excellent. I will not that not everything is 100% accurate, but for narrative reasons, I understand the choices they made. The actors have amazing chemistry together. Everything feels natural between them and they all bring their characters to life. No per...
