Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi...

Monster Hunter Movie Review

Monster Hunter Movie Review Skip This One The other day I went out with one of my friends and we saw Monster Hunter. If you haven't already passed this one up, you'll want to. Monster Hunter follows Artemis (Milla Jovovich) as she is transported to a world of monsters and must survive. Alright guys, this is going to be a short review. This movie is pretty trash. It's not even dumb fun where you can turn your brain off and watch cool action scenes, nope, just dumb. There's one section of the film that is 30 minutes too long. The ending... wait a sec... does this film technically have an ending? I suppose when the credits role that counts as an ending, but going off of basic narrative structure, no Monster Hunter does not have an ending. Don't waste your time on this film, it'll be forgotten in the dustbin of film history. There is not enough substance here for it to even gain cult status. The only redeeming quality of Monster Hunter, is that some of the monster d...

Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) Movie Review

Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) Movie Review Good For Kids, But Not Old Fans I just got out of seeing the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie. If you have really little kids like four or five year olds, it's good for them, but if you've been a Sonic fan for a long time, I'd say you should skip this movie. For the synopsis, I'm just going to quote from IMDB, "Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG tells the story of the world's speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic." I wasn't really feeling it from this version of Sonic. I was a big Sonic fan when I was a kid. Like a big fan. I played the games, read  the  comics,...

What the hell happened to video games?!

I'm serious, what the hell has happened to good video games? When all the video games are now AAA titles, then they begin to really suck. What's happened to gaming in the past few years? Seriously, what the hell has happened to video games? It seems like almost every game coming out right now is AAA or scoring very high on review sites. Take for example on IGN's new  review  for Assassins Creed Odyssey. They gave the game 9.2/10, and that used to mean something. Now it doesn't really seem to bring much to the table like it used to. I love the assassins creed games, and I would play them as a kid. But I played them because of their stealth, history, and skill involved in taking down your target. I didn't want it for an open world experience. If I wanted open world I would play  Skyrim . I'm sick of these bland choices. I guess this post is going to turn into somewhat of a rant, even though I didn't initially want it to. I like open world, it...

Tomb Raider Movie Review

Image Source It happened... It really happened... The film industry has finally made a good video game movie... Holy Crap!  Okay, lets cool our jets for a moment and try to solve the puzzle of this film. It's a simple story really, Lara Croft is the daughter of a wealthy man and her dad has been missing, presumed dead for the past seven years. Now Lara was old enough to get what she was supposed to receive from her fathers will, she is given a puzzle which she solves. The puzzle leads her onto a grand adventure, where she must fight to find the truth of what happened to her father, and the reason why he left in the first place.  The action in this movie is honestly amazing. I wrote a post a while ago called, Where are the Action Heros?  I think I just found what I was looking for. The action in this movie is well done and the stunts were overall pleasant and somewhat nail biting. The more intense scenes were well shot and the music matched the pace of the scene whi...
