Judy Movie Review

A Good BioPic

I just got back from Seeing the new film, Judy, and it was pretty good! The movie is a little long and not what I expected, but I walked out of the theater with a smile on my face.
Judy follows the later life of actress and singer, Judy Garland, as she travels to London to try and make some money to pay off her debts. She wants to spend time with her children, but cannot afford a home.
Renée Zellweger did a great job playing Judy Garland! I was enthralled with her performance. The film focused in on her and showed her quirks. I love how Renée Zellweger brought Judy to life. The actress also did a fine job singing.
The camera work was simple but effective for the film. They did a few really good long takes, and it worked wonders on screen. The colors of the film were a fine fit as well. The music was present, but in the background, in a good way.
The film is a bit tragic. Judy Garland didn't have an easy life. It shows in the film and it is shown well. The film is a bit long, and even though you can feel the length, it doesn't bother you very much. Also, I didn't see much promo material before I went in, so I'm not sure how it was portrayed in the trailers, but they don't show much of her early life. I would have liked to have seen her younger years a bit more, but the film is still very good.
I know this is a bit of a short review, but Judy is a great film. If you're in the mood for a biopic, or a good movie at the theater, I'd recommend going to see, Judy.

final score: 4.2/5

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi...

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Coda Movie Review

Coda Movie Review This Deserved Best Picture So, I just got back from seeing Coda, and it was amazing! This was the second attempt to see this film as the first time, someone booked the entire theater for a private screening. I'm going to take from a summary from IMDB to summarize the plot: " As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents." The acting was  phenomenal, the  cinematography was beautiful, and the story was human. The way this film is crafted is nothing short but excellent. I will not that not everything is 100% accurate, but for narrative reasons, I understand the choices they made. The actors have amazing chemistry together. Everything feels natural between them and they all bring their characters to life. No per...
