Anna Karenina is a 2012 movie that is so grandiose that it becomes an incoherent mess.
Anna Karenina is about Russian aristocrats and their troubles. Anna Karenina is an aristocrat and she is trying to help her family, but she becomes entangled with a man that is not her husband.Alright, this movie wants to be bigger than it really is. The acting and dialogue is stale at many points in the film. At some points it looks like it's going to break out into a musical, but it never does. There are scenes were they set it up well, but they never follow through and they change with some odd transitions that mix up the story and it's hard to follow at times.
The editing is atrocious, and it should be taught in film classes about how not to edit a film.
The characters are severely underdeveloped. I have not read the book, but it's probably a lot pretty than this movie. What really saddens me though is that I do like the actress that plays Anna Karenina, Keira Knightley. She is such a great actress, but I don't feel like she really cared about this film.
This is not the worst movie however, because there are some beautiful shots in this film. The cameramen did a great job.
In the end, I don't think that this is a very good film, but hey judge it for yourself. There are a lot worse films out there than Anna Karenina.
final score: 2.7/5
