The Cider House Rules Movie Review

The Cider House Rules is a 1999 film that is grossly captivating.

So I just watched the movie, The Cider House Rules, and it follow's Homer (Tobey Maguire) as an orphan that is trained as a doctor by the orphanage's doctor and head person. One day Homer decides to venture out and go with a couple that went to see the doctor, so Homer can see life a little more.
When I saw this film, I went in knowing absolutely nothing about it, and I didn't think that it would be that good. I was wrong on so many levels. The Cider House Rules is such a great film, I can't believe that I haven't heard of it before!
Tobey Maguire gives a fantastic performance as Homer, and he plays the character in a way that is hard to describe but oddly charming. Tobey Maguire's performance demands your attention and it doesn't let go. I can't think of anything wrong with anyone else's acting, so I'm just going to applaud the cast as a whole.
Seriously, it seemed as if everyone involved in this production really cared about what they were doing and it's greatly appreciated.
The Cider House Rules is charming, captivating, and just an all around heartwarming story that brings itself full circle in the most organic way. Bravo, to this hidden gem amongst all the muck in the film industry. If you want to sit down and watch an all around good movie, then The Cider House Rules, might be just right for you.

final score: 4/5

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi...
