Alita Battle Angel Movie Review

Alita Battle Angel Movie Review A Poorly Paced Film With Some Good Action So, I saw Alita Battle Angel last night with a buddy of mine, and it was kind of bad. Poor pacing, poor acting, but some decent action once and a while. Alita Battle Angel follows a cyborg named Alita as she is reawakened and bright back from the grave. Then she fights some bad guys. You know, the character motivations are pretty weak, I mean yeah, they do sorta explain some stuff about the character and the conflict. However, everything is presented so poorly, you will question the entire film from beginning to end. The acting is pretty terrible in the film. The emotional range of the actors goes from loud, to kinda quiet sometimes. The dialogue feels unnatural and repetitive a couple of times. The pacing of this movie is atrocious. There's practically no time for characters to develop. They care about each other just because... because don't question it I guess. There's very little to work

The Umbrella Academy Season 1 Review

The Umbrella Academy Season 1 Review An Unexpectedly Entertaining Superhero Show I finished watching, The Umbrella Academy the other night, and I must say by the end of it I was happy with how things turned out. The story begins on a day in 1989 when 43 infants are all born at the same time. This wouldn't be out of the ordinary, except their mothers weren't pregnant at the beginning of the day. An eccentric billionaire, Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) adopts seven of these children. Six of them are gifted with extraordinary powers, number 1 Luther (Tom Hopper) is super strong, number 2 Diego (David Castañeda) who can throw knives with perfect accuracy, number 3 Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) who can convince people to do just about anything, number 4 Klaus (Robert Sheehan) who can talk to the dead, number 5 (Aidan Gallagher) who can teleport and time travel, number 6 Ben (Justin H. Min) who could sprout forth tentacles from his body but he died as a boy and only Kla

Big Shark Trailer Review

Big Shark Trailer Review A New Tommy Wiseau Film So, Tommy Wiseau is making a shark film... I've wanted this for a long time and I just didn't know it yet.  I don't know much about this but the film honestly looks like... well... it might just take every award from all the other films released. As you may as well know Tommy Wiseau is the genius behind the movie, The Room. So be prepared to see a masterpiece. I'm expecting this to be a mixture of horror and comedy of epic proportions. Maybe even a touch of a sweeping drama which cascades against all expectations. And apparently the movie takes place in New Orleans, where Tommy Wiseau is obviously a native. So this will be refreshing. I can't wait to see, Big Shark! final score: 4.9/5

Happy Death Day 2U Movie Review

Happy Death Day 2U A Mindless Funny Film So, I was initially shocked to find out they were making a second film to the original Happy Death Day. Which I enjoyed as a turn your brain off and laugh sort of film. The film starts out the day after the first film, and it begins with the perspective of Ryan (Phi Vu) as he ends up in his own loop. Tree (Jessica Rothe) helps him, but they come to find out it was Ryan's science experiment which started the whole thing. They tried to fix it, but something goes wrong and Tree is thrown into a parallel universe where she has to relive the first day from the first film all over again, but with a few... minor differences. Ok, this film is mindless, and if you're okay with mindless fun, or you enjoyed the first film, then you'll probably like this one as well. Don't take it to seriously, and you probably will have some fun with it. So, Jessica Rothe back as Tree was pretty good. She fits the role well, and I was actually

The Wolf Of Wall Street Movie Review

The Wolf Of Wall Street Movie Review A fun but long film The Wolf Of Wall Street is a 2013 Martin Scorsese film which is so outrageously fun, you can't believe what's before your very eyes. The film is based on the real life story of Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) as he creates his own stock-brokerage, and the debauchery that follows. This movie is insane. The amount of drugs this man consumed in the film should have killed him. Now I'm not sure how real the depiction of Jordan Belfort's drug use is in the film, but holy cow it's crazy. This is probably one of my all time favorite Leonardo DiCaprio films, just because you can feel how invested he is in his character. This film looks as if it was one of the most fun sets, and one of the most difficult to work on.  So much action occurs rapidly in the film, it rarely stops for you to catch your breath. It sort of makes sense though, because if Jordan is high and not coming down anytime soon, than ne

Analyze This Movie Review

Analyze This Movie Review A Pretty Funny Film So, I'm not sure if you've heard of this movie, because I certainly haven't, however I was glad to see Analyze This.  The movie follows a gangster Paul Vitti (Robert De Niro) as he struggles with some internal problems and seeks help from a psychiatrist, Dr. Ben Sobel (Billy Crystal). So I'm going to keep this a short little review. It's a fun film which sort of acts like a parody to crime films. It's not a hard out and out parody, but it's pretty good overall. Robert De Niro did a good job in the film for the most part, however there were a few instances which weren't so good. I don't think this is his strongest role, but it still remains a good one. Billy Crystal did a good job in the film as well. Oh and if you're a fan of the show Friends, Lisa Kudrow is also in this film. In the end I found myself enjoying a pretty funny film. I don't think I would buy it, but I would probably rewat

Hell On Wheels Series Review

Hell On Wheels Series Review One Of The Best Series I've Seen Hell On Wheels is without a doubt one of the best tv shows I've ever seen! This show was during AMC's golden years, and boy was this amazing! I honestly can't stress enough about how great this western series is. Hell On Wheels follows Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount), a former confederate solider as he seeks revenge for the death of his family due to the hands of union soldiers. What he doesn't expect, is that it leads him to the rail road where he and along with many others must go through hell of love, death, and all the drama in between.  I can't understate how amazing this show really is. I'm not going to name the actors because there are to many great ones to list and I fear dear reader, it would take up this entire post.  I honestly have never been much of one for westerns, but I don't mind them. If you yourself aren't big into them, I'll tell you this, watch Hell On W

The Favourite Movie Review

The Favourite Movie Review A Better Title Would Be, The Boring I regrettably saw The Favourite a little while ago. I wanted to see this film because of my love of period and historical films, but what I got was a huge underwhelming let down. The film opens to an 18th Century setting, where we meet our principle characters, Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz), a close friend with Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) and Lady Sarah's cousin, Abigail (Emma Stone). With political tensions high, Lady Sarah and Abigail fight for the attention of the Queen to become, her favourite. I went into this film expecting to see something good, but what I got was two week old leftovers which belonged in the trash. There really isn't much to the characters in this film, and they aren't really fleshed out.  I like Emma Stone. Heck my first review on this blog was of La La Land , and I absolutely loved that film. Unfortunately, though Emma Stone did an all right performance, it's easy to tell

Green Book Movie Review

Green Book Movie Review A Good Heartfelt Film So I saw the film Green Book a little bit ago, and I must say, I greatly enjoyed this movie. I'm glad that I saw it, and I think I would want to see it again. The movie follows an Italian man named Tony (Viggo Mortensen) as he is hired as a driver for an African-American pianist named Dr. Shirley (Mahershala Ali) as he is embarking on a concert tour through the south in the 1960s. I absolutely loved this movie. Green Book is one of those heartfelt films, and I'll admit, I'm a sucker for them. Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali, both did a fantastic job acting in this film. They played off of each other so well, and seemed as if they have worked on a hundred films together in the past. Their character progression seems natural and fitting to how the characters are portrayed. They each have likable qualities, and they seem as if they were made to play the rolls portrayed. Music is such a humongous theme contained w
