Home Alone Movie Review

Home Alone Movie Review

Watching a modern Christmas Classic

Home Alone is just one of those movies you watch every year once Christmas time rolls around. It's a film that I've loved ever since I was a kid. Fun fact, I watched the second film first, but that review will be for a latter date.
Home Alone follows Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), just your average kid... but when his family forgets him and leaves him... wait for it... home alone... when they take a trip to Paris for Christmas, he must fend off some robbers in the most creative ways possible, so much so that you would not dare cross this kid ever in your life.
Alright, I love this movie, it's fantastic! Macaulay Culkin is fantastic, and this is the film that placed him on the map. The two robbers in the film played by, Joe Pesci as Harry and Daniel Stern as Marv, do a great job as well.
The comedy and heart in this film is done to such a great extent, It makes me want to watch and rewatch this film many times around Christmas. The old style slapstick comedy is pure gold and never ceases to at least get a chuckle out of me. The heart of the film comes in with the message of being with family, even if you are mad at them, they are still family and in the end you still love them.
This is a childhood classic, and like most Christmas films, holds a special place in my heart. If you have kids that haven't seen Home Alone yet, then this is the movie you sit down and watch with them this year.

final score: 4/5

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi...

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Penny Dreadful City Of Angels Season 1 Episode 1 Review

Penny Dreadful City Of Angels Season 1 Episode 1 Review  Had To Think About This One A Bit If you haven't noticed, I'm a fan of Penny Dreadful . I did address my early thoughts on the new series a little while ago , and now that it's out, I thought I would give my thoughts on the first episode. For the description I'm going to quote IMDB , " Los Angeles, 1938. LAPD detective Tiago Vega and his partner, Lewis Michener, investigate a murder. While at City Hall, Tiago's activist brother Raul Vega battles with the fiery Councilman Charlton Townsend over the construction of California's first freeway. Meanwhile, Peter Craft, the head of the German-American Bun, meets Elsa, the mysterious mother of one of his patients. Sensing danger, Tiago's mother Maria pleads with Santa Muerte to protect her family as the rising tensions in the city threaten to explode." From what I've seen from other reviewers has been very mixed. And here's my two...
