I think most of us have noticed that there seem to be many movie remakes and I'll throw in sequels that waited a long time to come out.
So what's up with all the movie remakes? I think most of us think that Hollywood is running out of ideas. Which probably has some truth to it, but I also think that they are probably somewhat afraid to venture out and try some knew ideas because they don't know if it will be profitable or not, until someone takes the risk and tries something new.
It's safer just to keep going through the same motions over and over again. I mean, why not? It worked in the past it should work again! But this can lead to a problem, that is called boredom. which will lead to bad reviews of the movie that was put out or if the series was popular enough then it will probably get some good reviews even though its basically retelling what has already happened in the pervious films without adding anything new or exciting. Yet if this trend continues then it could eventually lead to loss in ticket sales I'm guessing, then they would basically be forcing themselves to come up with a new story. They are backing themselves up into their own corner and I'm not sure if they realize it.
I'm a little surprised that they haven't made many historical films or more so than they already have, because history is jam-packed with stories!
Yet this is most likely just a big trend right now and it will hopefully die down soon so new content can be made and hopefully celebrated. We must remember though that remakes and sequels will always happen, just make sure when they do that they add or advance the story in a way that wasn't done the first time so it will be respected as if it was a stand alone film.
