Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Movie Review

I saw the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales yesterday, and it was a pretty decent film.
The first thing I have to point out is the comedy. It is really on point and it's so very fantastic! There are boat loads of laughs to be had throughout this film.
Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow, and as always he dose a great job of portraying this pirate. He has a pretty good into scene that you would only expect from Jack.
One of my flaws with the film is the villains kind of seem like filler, they don't capture the magic of the first three films villains, even if you didn't like all of the villains of the first three films, you could admit that they were at least fleshed out.
Another problem I have with this film is Barbossa. He doesn't feel like the same character from the first three films. He honestly feels like a totally different character.
The action scenes are nice, and are enthralled with entertainment. You also have some of the cheesy dialogue, which coming into this one, you kind of expect.
As always with these films the music was done nicely.
The color scheme was mostly brighter colors for this film.
You also get to see more of Will Turner's son, who is one of the main characters in this film. He was alright, but they could have fleshed out his character a little more than they did in this installment in the franchise.
There is also a new female character who is played nicely but there is a twist towards the end of the film about her backstory that feels really forced.
But overall I had a fun time with this movie, I would recommend seeing it. I've heard that this was supposed to be the last Pirates film, but it doesn't feel like it, it feels more like a filler episode of a tv show with an important plot point at the end. Finale note for this, there is a post credits scene.

Final score: 3.7/5

Uncharted Movie Review

Uncharted Movie Review Not As Good As The Games I went and saw the movie Uncharted a while ago, and it was as I expected it to be. If you are a fan of the games, well... prepare for disappointment. Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a low level thief as he is recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to go on a treasure hunt. As someone who has played some of the games, but not all, I have to say that the Uncharted film is what I thought it would be. A mishmash of all four games but not committing to any of them. The acting is a bit stale, and the plot is predictable. The camera work was fine, but the music was underused. Tom Holland should not have been Nathan Drake. He lacks the charisma, the attitude, and the charm. He may have passed for a teenage Nathan Drake, but he should have only been in a few scenes. I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Holland either long time readers may know. Now, onto Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Mark Wahlberg is way too young to be playi...

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Penny Dreadful City Of Angels Season 1 Episode 1 Review

Penny Dreadful City Of Angels Season 1 Episode 1 Review  Had To Think About This One A Bit If you haven't noticed, I'm a fan of Penny Dreadful . I did address my early thoughts on the new series a little while ago , and now that it's out, I thought I would give my thoughts on the first episode. For the description I'm going to quote IMDB , " Los Angeles, 1938. LAPD detective Tiago Vega and his partner, Lewis Michener, investigate a murder. While at City Hall, Tiago's activist brother Raul Vega battles with the fiery Councilman Charlton Townsend over the construction of California's first freeway. Meanwhile, Peter Craft, the head of the German-American Bun, meets Elsa, the mysterious mother of one of his patients. Sensing danger, Tiago's mother Maria pleads with Santa Muerte to protect her family as the rising tensions in the city threaten to explode." From what I've seen from other reviewers has been very mixed. And here's my two...
