The Call Of The Wild Movie Review

A Good Family Film

I just got back from seeing, The Call Of The Wild and I have to say I enjoyed the film. I haven't read the book so full disclosure there, but as a standalone film, this was pretty good and gave me a more classic movie vibe.
The Call Of The Wild follows a dog named Buck as he journeys from California through the Yukon and his adventures along the way.
I was a little put off with the CGI animals in The Call Of The Wild, but it didn't bother me after a bit. Harrison Ford did a great job in this film and he looked to be enjoying himself. The Call Of The Wild had a more classic movie approach to it and I liked that. This adaptation was a solid family flick the kids would enjoy and the adults would get some entertainment too.
I'm going to address the CGI in The Call Of The Wild first. I wasn't too keen on the CGI as I would have preferred real animals to the best of their ability, but after a while into the film, it didn't bother me as much. I will say it's a negative, but it was handled well given the fact.
Harrison Ford did a great job in this film. I really found myself enjoying his performance and it looked as if he was enjoying it too. I think this film was a little more than just a paycheck for him. There was some heart put into it which I haven't seen from him in a couple films. The Call Of The Wild also reminds you just how powerful of a actor Harrison Ford is.
The dog Buck was an entreating fellow. Even though there were a couple cheesy parts along his journey, I found myself caring for his character as the film went on. By the end of the film I was getting a little attached. I wasn't going full bore, but there was some lightheartedness to him that eventually drew me in.
There was also that classic movie feel to The Call Of The Wild which I haven't felt in a few years. If you like older films, you'll find yourself enjoying this film just as much as I did. When my Dad and I were walking out of the theater, we heard a little kid say something like, "I want to see that again!" Which brought a smile to my face. If you're looking for something a bit more wholesome to show the family, I would recommend going out to see The Call Of The Wild.
I will warn you there is some violence in the story and some drinking is to be had, but I don't think it would detract from the overall experience if you're brining the kids. I do think the film is pretty good, though it has it's faults, it's still an enjoyable watch.
I'm going to end this review by saying, this is a good film. It has it's problems to be sure, but it's good enough for the whole family to find some enjoyment out of it. If you're looking for a movie to watch this weekend, then check out, The Call Of The Wild.

final score: 3.5/5

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review

Dora and the Lost City of Gold Movie Review This Was My Dad's Idea Well... I went and saw Dora and the Lost City of Gold today with my dad, and... the film was a lot funnier than it has any right to be. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live action adaptation of the Dora tv show on Nickelodeon. Dora, now a teenager, is sent to the City to live with her cousin, Diego, while her parents go exploring for a lost City. When her parents go missing, Dora and her new friends go and search for her parents. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the movie wasn't half bad. There is a ton of tongue and cheek humor. There is some cringe to the Dora and the Lost City of Gold too, but remember, this is a movie made for kids. As a kids film, it does a fine job. The acting was fine, and for a kids film, everyone did alright. Isabela Moner, who played Dora, did a good job portraying the character from what I remember about the show when I was very young. What surprised...

Norsemen Netflix Show Review So Far

Norsemen Netflix Show Review So Far The funniest show I've seen in years I've been watching a show on Netflix called Norsemen, and I swear this is the funniest show I've seen in years! I can't understate how funny this show can really be, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say about 90% of the jokes land. Norsemen starts off in 790 AD, and follows a few Vikings and their slaves. The show goes through their lives and their trials, but it's done with a comedic spin. If you haven't yet, watch the trailer above to get a better idea of the show. I will say this, this show reminds me of Monty Python ! Some of the jokes Norsemen  are gut busting, and will almost have you rolling on the floor laughing. In an age of bad comedies this show is gold.  I just started watching season 2 the other day, and I just want to keep watching. The episodes are about a half hour long each, and it's the perfect time frame to get the story across. I wouldn't c...
