Happy 1 Year!

It's been 1 year since I have started this blog!  La La Land  was a really good movie, and for my first post I thought I did pretty well at reviewing it. Here's to another year of reviews!

Heathers Movie Review

So I just finished watching the 80's cult classic, Heathers, and I have to say that I really enjoyed this black comedy. The movie follows a girl named Veronica (Winona Ryder) as her and her boyfriend J.D. (Christian Slater) plan on killing the popular kids in the school. Veronica was once a part of the popular kids, but after she begins to date J.D. that's when the plotting begins. I must note that this is a black comedy, and this movie is not suited for everyone. If you can handle a dark sense of humor, then I would recommend this movie, otherwise you may want to pass on this one. The acting in this movie is really well done for the most part. The comedy is well timed and paced to the point where you get just enough of a break between jokes to laugh at the jokes while still remaining invested into the story. They also say the one liners that only an 80's film could pull off, and I really mean that. I honestly feel that the director of this film, Michael Lehmann, had a r

Heathers Trailers

I would like to say that I have never seen the movie Heathers, I have only seen the trailer for this 1980's movie. Now a little while ago Paramount released a trailer for a show (I believe that it is a show) called Heathers, based on the original movie. You can watch the original Heathers trailer  here . You can watch the new version trailer  here . Now please tell me, which looks better? In my opinion, I would say the older, original movie looks a million times better than the new version that is being pushed out to people. This new version looks like it will be crappy, and over the top. Now this is a comedy, but you can tell by watching the trailer, that they are going for the most lowbrow, simple, and uninspired writing that can get them a paycheck the quickest. In the new trailer, I swear I've heard the music that they played in it in about a million other comedy trailers. I think I might watch the old version, because it looks like it could actually be pretty good.

Molly's Game Movie Review

So last night I saw Molly's Game, and I have to say that this is a pretty decent movie. This movie follows Molly, a gal that runs a high-end poker game, and her rise and her fall. This movie is based on her real life, though I don't know how much is true and how much is fictionalized, but it was very interesting. The acting is preformed very well. I don't think that there was really any bad performances in the entire movie. The camera work was really well done and there were some interesting shots in the movie. The music perfectly fit the overall tone that the film was going for. The lighting set the mood effectively and it was consistent throughout the entire film. The way that everything in the movie is portrayed is a little realistic, but you can defiantly tell that some parts were dramatized. I don't have a tone to say about this movie, except that it was enjoyable enough and I would recommend going out and seeing it. I don't think that I would buy this mov

The Room Movie Review

So last night I saw the masterpiece movie The Room in theaters written, directed, and starring Tommy Wiseau. This film breathes utter perfection. The movie follows Johnny (Tommy Wiseau) as he lives with his fiancé Lisa, and everything is going well, until Lisa betrays Johnny... The acting in The Room from Tommy Wiseau is dramatic, comedic, and heart wrenching. That man is the damn master of the art of acting. There is so much emotion to his performance, some can't handle the raw awesome power of it. Then there is Lisa... freaking... Lisa... She tore Johnny apart... freaking... Lisa... We also have Johnny's best friend Mark, who starts off as a good guy well intentioned guy that ends up possibly betraying Johnny (watch the movie to find out if he does or does not). And how can we forget about Denny. Denny is a complex character that deals with the inner turmoil of love, and he always remains true to his friend Johnny. Which Johnny is like a father figure to Denny. The came

Darkest Hour Movie Review

So I saw the movie Darkest Hour a little while ago, and I must say that this movie did surpass my expectations. The movie follows Winston Churchill during the early days of him being Prime Minister during WWII. The camera work is a star of it's own in this film. It is magnificently done, and there are so many interesting shots in this movie, it always keeps ahold of your attention. There are shots in this film that I haven't seen for a while in movies. The acting was superb by all that were involved in this picture. Gary Oldman did a fantastic job as Winston Churchill. The movie was dramatic when it needed to be and it was comedic when it needed to be, and it did it so very effectively. The films music was a perfect match to the film itself. I also like that silence is also used. There seems to be a perfect blend of music and silence in this film, and I really appreciate the fact that they mastered it for this film. The lighting fit the tone the film was going for. For th

Insidious The Last Key Movie Review

So I saw Insidious The Last Key a little while ago, and it was a pretty good horror movie, for the forth one in a franchise. The movie follows Elise (Lin Shaye) a psychic that helps people with their paranormal problems, but this time the demon is in her old family house. This case that she is taking on is personal. The timeline for the franchise is a little weird but it goes insidious 3, insidious the last key, insidious, insidious 2. I don't know if they are going to make a 5th film in the franchise, but its high enough quality that I think they could pull it off. So in this one the acting is very well done. Lin Shaye plays Elise perfectly, and having four movies to get used to her character, she plays the character very naturally. The other cast members are also very good, but sometimes there dialogue can seem a little stale at times. I've heard that the comedy in this movie is really bad, but I'm here to tell you that it's not as bad as some people are saying, th

The New Mutants Trailer Reaction

I know that The New Mutants trailer came out a while ago but I still want to talk about it. If you have been reading my posts you know that the X-Men franchise is my favorite superhero film franchise. The New Mutants is supposed to be a horror film, which highly intrigues me, and they also appear to have an Allstar cast Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Charlie Heaton. It appears that they are playing a dynamic range of characters, and I am excited to see this! You can watch the trailer  here

The Witch Movie Review

So a little while ago I saw the movie, The Witch on amazon, and I thought that it was a pretty good movie. The movie takes place in the 1600's where a Puritan family has be banished from the community, and now this family must venture out into the wilderness, making their own home and try to survive all while a witch may be reeking havoc amongst them. This movie is written and directed by, Robert Eggers. I could be wrong but I believe that this was his very first film. I thought after seeing the movie that he did do a good job. This movie was shot in 1.66:1 aspect ratio which is a nice aesthetic. In some ways it does have an arthouse feel to it, but it's not overbearing. The films musical score adds another layer to the story that gives it a creepy vibe, and a sense of uneasiness that follows and builds the tension every time that it is played. It is loud, and rightly so, because it shows the sense of dread that creeps up on this film. Anya Taylor-Joy gives a fantastic per

Slender Man Trailer Review

So I might be a little late to reviewing the Slender Man Trailer,. but gosh darn it I'm going to do it anyways! So of course the Slender Man movie is based off of a video game that came out a few years ago, and we all know this. The question is, does this look like it will be a crappy film? Well, I think it might actually look pretty good. In the trailer I like the grey tones the place over the footage, and it looks interesting. Not very scary however, which for a horror movie is pretty bad, but it does look like it will at the very least be entertaining. I guess we just have to wait and see for more trailers, or the movie itself, but this trailer looks intriguing enough that I will most likely go and see the movie. you can watch the trailer  here .

Actor to watch out for: Anya Taylor-Joy

I have been meaning to make a post about this actress, Anya Taylor-Joy for a while now. I am also thinking that this will be part of a small series called "Actor to watch out for" where I talk about an actor/actress that has had a few big rolls but is still a little underground. So Anya Taylor-Joy is an 21 year old actress and I would say that her first big hit was an indie film called The Witch (you can watch The Witch on amazon). Which I have not seen the movie The Witch yet, but I plan on seeing it in the near future, as it looks like a good movie. Her next big film would be  Split  which came out last year. This was the first movie I saw Anya Taylor-Joy in and made me interested to see what else she was in. Though in Split she really did give a great performance. Anya Taylor-Joy will be in two upcoming movies this year Thoroughbreds, a short drama thriller that is only 90 minutes long coming out March 9th, and The New Mutants (which I am looking forward to seeing) an

Bright Netflix Movie Review

So a few days ago I saw the movie Bright on Netflix, staring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton, and this was a good movie. This is an urban fantasy film that follows Daryl Ward (Will Smith) a human and Nick Jakoby (Joel Edgerton) an orc, as two cops that find a magic wand and an elf girl named Tikka (Lucy Fry) and everyone is trying to get the wand. The movie is effective at what it does and it is highly enjoyable. The comedy is great, and it hits almost every time. The more emotional moments hit pretty well for the most part. The action is really well done, and was a thrill to watch. The dynamics of Ward and Jakoby are interesting, because they do go through a interesting arc together and it is portrayed in an effective way that shows growth in their characters. The music in this movie is well done, but could have been improved in certain areas, but for the most part it works. The lighting, with it's contrast between light and dark, is very effective and fits the movie well overall

Tallulah Netflix Movie Review

So a couple of days ago I saw the movie Tallulah on Netflix, and I was happy to see Ellen Page in something again. It has been a while since I saw her in anything. So the movie follows a girl named Tallulah and she kidnaps a baby girl, that the mother doesn't really want but sort of realizes that she does. So Tallulah goes to her boyfriends mother for help which, they have never meet each other, and no one know's where he is. This is a pretty good movie I must say. The actings was spot on, and was very believable. Ellen Page, like always, gives a great performance. The music is not to memorable, which could have been worked on a little more. The lighting was good, and it fit the overall tone that the movie was going for. The final scene was a bit odd however, because it was like one of those scenes that you would film if you didn't really know how to end the movie. In the end, it is a pretty good movie, and I would suggest checking Tallulah out on Netflix, it is worth
