Penny Dreadful Series Review

I finished rewatching the Series Penny Dreadful the other night and it was just as amazing as it was the first time viewing the series! The series was created by John Logan, who also wrote Skyfall, The Aviator, and Hugo, among other films. The Series follows a cast of classical and new characters set in Victorian London as they fight the forces of evil to protect Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) as Lucifer and a certain vampire wish to make her one of their brides. She is accompanied by Sir Malcom Murray (Timothy Dalton) who shares a history with Vanessa as his daughter and her where friends and in Season 1 they are trying to find his daughter Mina, and Sir Malcom and Vanessa don't really get along to well in the start for reasons that are caused by Vanessa in the past, yet they must work together and eventually form a father/daughter bond that they would have not expected to happen. Also accompanied by Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) who is an American running from his past and is empl

Happy Death Day Movie Review

So last night with a friend I went and saw the movie Happy Death Day. And I expected a good movie, but it was way better than I thought it would be. The movie follows a college student, Tree Gelbman (played by Jessica Rothe) as she dies every night on her birthday, and wakes up on the same day as she died. So it's basically Groundhog Day as a horror movie. There are some laugh out loud moments that are well earned. And the cast does a phenomenal job at the parts they play. The movie has a mystery to it that is done really well and I truly applaud them for it. The music fits the tone of the scenes right to a tee and it is pleasing to see this done. Also the colors of the film are done extremely well in a way that convey what the film is trying to get across and it doesn't miss a beat. One thing that this movie does the best though is how it plays out its twists. I can honestly say I did not see most or any of them coming, and it was a thrill to watch them play out. Overall

Why I don't like Shakespeare (Gasp!)

Okay... Okay... let the shock and horror of someone who doesn't like the bard, or as some people treat him the literary "god" of the English language, the one, the only, Shakespeare, be done and just hear me out on this one please. So now that I have your attention and you may be thinking, "who is this idiot think he is dissing on Shakespeare?" I have read two of his plays, Romeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. A Midsummer Night's Dream is done okay I guess, but Romeo and Juliet... it sucks really, really badly. So to start with Romeo and Juliet what do we know about our star crossed lovers? Well there from families that absolutely hate each other, their young, rich, and naive. Besides that we know that they are head over heels in love for each other! But besides that, what do they have in common? Anyone? Anyone? Do they share any values outside of their love for each other? I could be wrong, but there is nothing else that comes to mind.

The Foreigner Movie Review

So I just saw the movie The Foreigner, a few hours ago, and I must say that it is an entertaining watch that should be viewed at least once. Jackie Chan stars in this film as a man hunting down those who killed his daughter, as she was caught in the cross fire of a different political event. This is a serious action film, were I don't think they cracked a joke even once. And you know what? It was kinda nice to see a serious action film that was well acted. One thing that I truly applaud the film for is that every major character whether they are good or bad, you do understand their motivations for their actions. The music score is forgettable in this and it's defiantly not the main focus of this film. Yet the color grading was done nicely to make scenes bleak when they needed too. The camera work caught the action perfectly, so well done to the videographers of this film. The fight scenes make sense in the movie, there is no action for the sake of action. Every fight is do

Dracula (1931) Movie Review

So last night I saw the movie, Dracula staring Bela Lugosi. It was not as good as I thought it would be. Ok to bring it into comparison do you remember when the lightning thief movie came out because of the Percy Jackson books? And do you remember how it barely followed the book, or at the very least was just a bad adaptation. Well as someone who is currently reading Dracula the book, I can say that this movie butchers Bram Stockers vision of Dracula. They cut out hundreds of pages worth of terrific material, and just throw it away. I understand that an adaptation will change some things, but this goes overboard, by changing relationships, deleting central characters, changing a characters entire subplot, or just deleting it. There are certain scenes from the book I could see them cutting, or even a few characters But to delete important secondary characters? NO. I will not have it, I will not accept it. The acting was done okay I guess, but nothing truly outstanding. Bela Lugosi doe

Blog Update 2: TV Shows, Books, and October!

So I haven't done much for other medium like I said I would in my last post. I haven't reviewed any tv shows so far, but I have a couple in mind to review. For example I will be reviewing the HBO show ROME soon. I am still reading Dracula, and I'm just over half way through the book, so I will review that when I finish it. For October I am planing on reviewing a few horror themed things, for a tv show I will be reviewing Penny Dreadful, and I have a couple of movies planed to review this month. So stay tuned! More is to come!
