The King's Man Movie Review

The King's Man Movie Review A Solid Addition To The Franchise I just got out of seeing The King's Man with a friend, and I must say that this was a wonderful addition to the franchise but not in the way you would think. The King's Man follows the Oxford family at the outset of WWI and as events unfold, the inception of The Kingsman Agency commences. This film surprised me. It's a bit different in tone from the other films, but in a good way. The comedy, while present, is toned down for a more dramatic take. The King's Man is not as action packed as the previous installments, but when it is present, the flair still holds. I found the cinematography to be somewhat standard, but there are a few creative shots thrown in for good measure.  The actors played their part well. Everyone enveloped the personalities they portrayed. Rasputin isn't in the film as much as the trailers would have you believe but his scenes are well done. The Oxford family and associates are ...

1917 Movie Review

1917 Movie Review A Triumph Of A Film I just got out of seeing the masterpiece of a film, 1917 with some friends. I'm glad as hell I went and saw this true Triumph of cinema. 1917 follows two British soldiers given orders to deliver a message calling off an attack. They are racing against the clock with less than a day to deliver the message. With danger lurking around every corner, will they make it in time? I want to continue to praise this film as it really was fantastic. The cinematography was beautiful, the colors were gorgeous, the acting was superb, the score was flawless, and the Directing was amazing. I cannot understate how great this film is. Starting off with the cinematography. The creative choice to make this a one long take was well decided. There are some cuts in the film, and you do know where they are. However, it never looks like the film cuts, but you know when it does. The long takes were really masterful. The amount of dedication that the cinemato...

1917 Movie Trailer Reaction

1917 Movie Trailer Reaction Looks Great! I think the subheading for this post says it all. 1917 looks like it'll be a great film. I could be wrong , and I have been wrong before . However this gives me sort of Journey's End vibes and I absolutely love it! It seems there are more and more WWI films coming out, and I think since it's now been just over 100 years, we're getting nostalgic for the period. I remember about a decade or so ago, and still to this day, we see more films geared towards WWII, but it's nice to see more attention placed on WWI. As someone who loves history, and historical films, I can't wait to see 1917. The camera work from the trailer looks great, the actors appear immersed in the setting, and the color grading is absolutely fantastic! I know it's a short post, but my trailer reactions/reviews are typically shorter than my actual reviews anyways. I thoroughly enjoyed this trailer, and I'm pumped to see 1917! final s...

Journey's End Movie Review

Journey's End Movie Review  A Beautifully Tragic WWI Film Journey's End is a beautifully tragic film set in the trenches of the first World War, or at the time, The Great War. Journey's End follows a group of British Army officers as they hold their position on the front lines. Any day now, they're expecting an attack from the Germans. How long can they hold out before the enemy attacks? I've surprisingly found myself enjoying WWI Films  as of late. I'm happy to say, I can add Journey's End to the list of great films. I will however warn you dear reader, this is very depressing by the end. The acting in Journey's End is top notch. The entire cast did a fantastic job in my opinion and I applaud all of them. They really brought their characters to life. The somber feeling of WWI is felt the moment the film steps into the trenches. There's always a nervousness about it, because you never know if the enemy will attack. Journey's End has ...

They Shall Not Grow Old Movie Review

They Shall Not Grow Old This Is The Best WWI Film I Have Ever Seen I just got back from the theater, and I saw They Shall Not Grow Old, with my Grandpa. I don't do much with him, but I'm glad we saw this movie together. They Shall Not Grow Old is a documentary with the original footage from WWI, and it's narrated by veteran's of the war. The premise of the film is simple, just show what these men had to endure, during daily life on the Western Front.  This film is truly incredible, and I mean that in every sense of the word. They hired lip readers to figure out what the people in the footage were saying, and then hired actors from the region the soldiers were from and we got the privilege to hear what they had to say.  I think this is the most important film on WWI that shows what life was like for the people that lived it. Well, the reason is, it's the ones who lived telling us what happened. You can't help but to feel in awe of the struggles of ...
