The Conjuring The Devil Made Me Do It Movie Review

The Conjuring The Devil Made Me Do It Movie Review Good, But Not Great I went and saw The Conjuring The Devil Made Me Do It the other day with one of my friends, and it was a good movie. Not a great movie, but good. The Conjuring The Devil Made Me Do It continues The Conjuring Universe in this new installment where Ed and Lorraine Warren ( Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga ) face off against a new demon, but perhaps something more. The Conjuring The Devil Made Me Do It is based off the real trial ofArne Cheyenne Johnson. I'm not reviewing the accuracy of the film to the true events, I'm judging the film by itself. With that said, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga both did a fantastic job once again. I was a little disappointed that James Wan didn't direct this film, but Michael Chaves  did an alright job. The camera work was pretty solid. The music was good. The color scheme was fitting for the film. It was pretty well done on a technical side. However, there were maybe one o...

The New Mutants Movie Review

The New Mutants Movie Review IT'S HERE!!! IT'S FINALLY HERE!!! I'm proud to say that I have seen The New Mutants!!! It's been three years in the waiting, but I've finally seen The New Mutants!!! I'm going to keep it simple and use the IMDB description for the film, " Five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves." I'm so happy that I've seen The New Mutants I thought that this day would never come. If you've been following this blog for a while you know how much I've wanted to see this film. And I'm happy with it. The cast really play well off of each other, there are some cool effects, and it's just all around fun. Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga, and Alice Barga all did a great job in The New Mutants. The script doesn't carry the cast, the cast carries the script. T...

The New Mutants Opening Scene is partially released!

The New Mutants Opening Scene is partially released! Also A New Release Date! So, we finally got more of The New Mutants material. I'm pretty happy with this. It's a well made opening and I'm excited to see the film on... oh... what's it this time? August 28th? What are the odds of a last minute cancellation? I'm going to give it a 50/50 shot. I hope it's for real this time though. I swear this movie is cursed or something. It's been a while since I've seen a movie with this many delays for release. But anyways, I'd say I'm pretty optimistic going forward after seeing this opening. Let's just hope this is the real release date this time.

You're Next Movie Review

You're Next Movie Review This Is What Happens When There's One Smart Person You're Next is a pretty good horror flick. Honestly, it lived up to my expectations for the film and I'm happy about it. You're Next follows a family as their parents celebrate their wedding anniversary. But when a group of murders comes upon them, the anniversary falls into chaos. What the murders don't expect is Erin ( Sharni Vinson ), the girlfriend of one of the brothers, and she knows how to fight back. You're Next is basically what happens when you drop one smart character in a horror film. Erin is a cool character and knows how to hold her own. If I was in a horror film, I'd want her to lead the group.  The acting is a little clunky at times, but the film doesn't take itself too seriously. I think the cast didn't have the best chemistry, especially since they're supposed to be a family. Sharni Vinson is probably the one who makes this film.  ...

The Haunting Of Hill House Season 1 Review

The Haunting Of Hill House Season 1 Review A Terrifying Series So Far I'm a little late to be reviewing The Haunting Of Hill House, but what's 1 year right? Right? Okay, I'm sorry, I should have gotten to this show last year, but I got to it this year, so you guys will just have to sit through this one. I'm going to be a little lazy and copy the IMDB page explanation for the show, " Explores a group of siblings who, as children, grew up in what would go on to become the most famous haunted house in the country. Now adults, and forced back together in the face of tragedy, the family must finally confront the ghosts of their past, some of which still lurk in their minds while others may actually be stalking the shadows of Hill House." The cast sucks you into the show without missing a beat. I was hooked from the first frame to the last, and I binged the first season in 2 days. This is terror done right. The acting is good, the tone is good, and it'...

The Descent Movie Review

The Descent Movie Review Better Than It Looks So, the other night one of my friends came over and we watched the 2005 horror flick, The Descent and the film surpassed my expectations. The Descent follows a group of women as they go off exploring a cave as a bonding experience. They soon get trapped in the cave and have to find their way out, but what they don't expect is the creatures which lurk down below. When the movie started, it came off as your run of the mill style B film, or so I thought. Yes, the movie does go through the tropes  of the genre, but the actors know what they're doing and aren't completely helpless. What I really love about this film is that even though our band of characters are terrified by what they encounter, they learn to adapt. The Descent does an excellent job of show, don't tell. I was very surprised by how they keep it consistent throughout the entire flick. What's even more impressive is the fact that the cave scenes wh...

An American Werewolf In London Movie Review

An American Werewolf In London Movie Review Not What I Expected I saw An American Werewolf In London a little bit ago, and it was an alright film. What I'm most surprised about is, how few werewolf films there are. An American Werewolf In London follows David ( David Naughton) and his friend Jack, two Americans traveling through England. They come across a small town which is awfully suspicious, and when they leave, they're attacked by a Werewolf. David survives and is brought to a hospital in London. Now he has to face becoming the monster which nearly killed him. I thought this was a plain horror movie, but for some reason I didn't know going into the film, it was a horror-comedy. That said, I found the comedy to be pretty good. I was surprised at how many times I caught myself chuckling.  Regarding the cinematography, there aren't to many creative shots in the film. Everything is pretty standard, accept when the werewolf comes into play.  The actor,...

31 Posts Of Halloween

So, it has come to that time of year again! October! So with the month of fear rolling around, I am going to be making one post every day with something Halloween related. It will mostly be movie reviews, but I might throw in one or two book reviews, and maybe even one tv show review. So most of the posts made, I have already created earlier this year, but if there is a specific movie that you would recommend that I review, tell me in the comments. I may just get to the movie you recommend, and you might see it as a bonus review for my first year of 31 Posts Of Halloween!
