Silent Film Week! The Finishing Touch Movie Review

The Finishing Touch Movie Poster, Laurel and Hardy, 1928

The Finishing Touch

One Of The Best Comedic Duo's

The Finishing Touch is a 1928 silent film starring Laurel and Hard. I must say, it's not my favorite silent film, but The Finishing Touch is still pretty good.
The plot is pretty simple, Laurel and Hardy are hired to finish up some construction on a house, but things go wrong for them.
I really like the simplicity of silent films sometimes. There can be such a lightheartedness about these types of films, and there's something about them which just feels right.
Stan Laurel, and Oliver Hardy are fantastic comedians and it shows in this film. Granted a few of the slapstick jokes fall a little flat, but there are some laugh out loud moments contained within the film itself.
I like the creativity of The Finishing Touch. The film contains some well placed cuts, and if you blink, you'll miss them. It adds to the overall comedy as well, and it can be greatly appreciated.
The Finishing Touch is a good film. Granted this is a pretty short review for the movie, but trust me, it's worth a watch. If you like slapstick, or just good comedy overall, then The Finishing Touch is the movie for you.

final score: 4/5

Coda Movie Review

Coda Movie Review This Deserved Best Picture So, I just got back from seeing Coda, and it was amazing! This was the second attempt to see this film as the first time, someone booked the entire theater for a private screening. I'm going to take from a summary from IMDB to summarize the plot: " As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents." The acting was  phenomenal, the  cinematography was beautiful, and the story was human. The way this film is crafted is nothing short but excellent. I will not that not everything is 100% accurate, but for narrative reasons, I understand the choices they made. The actors have amazing chemistry together. Everything feels natural between them and they all bring their characters to life. No per...
