L.A. Confidential Movie Review

L.A. Confidential is a 1997 crime drama that is very, very good. So, the other day I saw L.A. Confidential and I was throughly impressed by this film. The actings is superb, the scenes are shot beautifully, and the story itself is highly engrossing.  L.A. Confidential follows three detectives that don't necessarily get along, but to solve a murder case, they must pull their talents together. Detective Jack Vincennes (Kevin Spacey) is the guy that likes to be in the limelight of things, he helps consult of tv shows. Detective Bud White (Russell Crowe) is the strong man of the three, and he has a certain affinity for protecting women. Then there is Detective Ed Exley (Guy Pearce) who is the straight shooter of the group and is the one that is most recently promoted to detective. Together, they discover things that they wish they didn't come across, but they know that they must  face them, head on. Alright, every actor in this film has done an outstanding job, and I applaud e

The Cider House Rules Movie Review

The Cider House Rules is a 1999 film that is grossly captivating. So I just watched the movie, The Cider House Rules, and it follow's Homer (Tobey Maguire) as an orphan that is trained as a doctor by the orphanage's doctor and head person. One day Homer decides to venture out and go with a couple that went to see the doctor, so Homer can see life a little more.  When I saw this film, I went in knowing absolutely nothing about it, and I didn't think that it would be that good. I was wrong on so many levels. The Cider House Rules is such a great film, I can't believe that I haven't heard of it before!  Tobey Maguire gives a fantastic performance as Homer, and he plays the character in a way that is hard to describe but oddly charming. Tobey Maguire's performance demands your attention and it doesn't let go. I can't think of anything wrong with anyone else's acting, so I'm just going to applaud the cast as a whole.  Seriously, it seemed as

The Predator Movie Review

So I just saw, The Predator, and it was grossly underwhelming... it really could have been something more if it just tried a little. I went and saw this movie with a friend of mine, and I thought that it would be a cool fun action movie. You know those ones that you turn your brain off and enjoy for a little while? Yeah, one of those kind of movies, except it wasn't as good as that. My brain just kept saying, "that wouldn't happen," or, "they are not even trying," so even though I wanted to like this movie, it just didn't hold up for me. I'm not going to go into plot, and the characters are barely fleshed out.  Granted the cannon fodder of the film died latter than I thought they would, so props to them for surviving. I won't mention who, but I was surprised to find out some of the actors in this movie. Granted I didn't really watch the trailers for, The Predator, but just to be safe, I won't mention the actors involved in this proj

Operation Finale Movie Review

I didn't hear much about Operation Finale, but I'm glad that I saw it! Operation Finale is based on the true story about the Israelis getting the Nazi Adolf Eichmann, in Argentina. This is one of those powerful films, and I'm somewhat surprised that this didn't come out during December, but then again we usually get one WWII type of film in the summer.  All of the actors did a fine job. I found their performances to be believable, and I applaud them for that. I don't think there was a single bad performance in the film.  The only down side to the movie that I could think of, is that it could have and should have been a little more intense than it was. Maybe they could have changed the music a little to make Operation Finale a little more dramatic. Besides that I didn't really have any problems with the film as a whole. We get to know some of the characters a bit, but not to well. However we do get some of their backstories. If you're into WWII hi

Hot Fuzz Movie Review

Hot Fuzz is a 2007 action cop comedy film, and I thought that it would be good, but not as good as it turned out to be. Nicholas Angle (Simon Pegg) is a London cop that gets promoted to sergeant, and is assigned to a small quiet village because he is showing up every other cop in London. He doesn't want to take the assignment, but he must. Initially things are a bit weird, and sergeant Angle is a bit bored at his new post, until some, "accidents" start happening, and this quiet little village might not be all that it is cracked up to be. I want to say going into this film that I thought that it would be just an all right movie to pass the time, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this is actually an amazing film! Most of the jokes land, and are funny, the action is excellent, and the acting is perfectly fitting for this film! I can't picture anyone else playing the roles that were in this film. I really have to applaud everyone involved in this picture

Anna Karenina Movie Review

Anna Karenina is a 2012 movie that is so grandiose that it becomes an incoherent mess. Anna Karenina is about Russian aristocrats and their troubles. Anna Karenina is an aristocrat and she is trying to help her family, but she becomes entangled with a man that is not her husband. Alright, this movie wants to be bigger than it really is. The acting and dialogue is stale at many points in the film. At some points it looks like it's going to break out into a musical, but it never does. There are scenes were they set it up well, but they never follow through and they change with some odd transitions that mix up the story and it's hard to follow at times. The editing is atrocious, and it should be taught in film classes about how not to edit a film. The characters are severely underdeveloped. I have not read the book, but it's probably a lot pretty than this movie. What really saddens me though is that I do like the actress that plays Anna Karenina, Keira Knightley. She is
