The Quintessentialist

I just saw the movie The Circle with a friend of mine. And well... it's different. From the cinematography point of view it was well shot, and had nice colors. Emma Watson stars in this film, and in a way she is sort of an anti-hero/hero, her character sort of goes back and forth on this. The film is directed by James Ponsoldt, he is also the director of the movie, The Spectacular Now. I'm not quite sure if the director was 100% into this project, while the acting was taken seriously, some of the lines came off stale from a secondary character. I'm not sure if that was the fault of the actor, the writer, or the director, but perhaps they could have all have tried a little more than they did in the film. Regarding Emma Watson's accent, she goes for an american accent and for the most part pulls it off, but once and awhile you can hear her british accent trying to crack through. Yesterday I saw the movie, The Zookeeper's Wife. I have to say that this film was better than I thought it would be. The movie starts a bit before WWII in Poland, and to my satisfaction, not one british accent! Nope, just polish and german accents. That earned points in my book just for that. No offense to the brits, but it's nice to watch a film that takes place in a foreign nation, where the actors don't sound like they came from England (I'm looking at you Les Miserables). The cinematography was well done. It had a crisp clean image, that is well appreciated. Along with a well thought out color scheme, that suits the film nicely. The director, Niki Caro, seems to know exactly what she wanted to do with this film, and I must say kudos to her. The protagonist of the film, Antonina Zabinski (played by: Jessica Chastin), reacts naturally to the situations that she goes through in the film. I saw the fate of the furious a couple days ago. I don't have to much to say about this film. It was alright, one of the better fast and the furious films. Kind of one of those movies you turn your brain off and enjoy. The acting was decent. finale score: 3.5/5

I saw Logan when it came out on the first night and showing in my town. I was whisked away into an adventure that surpassed my expectations. The movie starts with a nice dramatic blue and orange color scheme, that becomes toned down but noticeable if you really look throughout the film. Hugh Jackman gives in my opinion one of the best performance's of his acting career, he has truly enveloped the character of Logan. Patrick Stewart gives a great performance as an aging Charles Xavier, he provides some depth to the world in the movie that is greatly appreciated. Then their is Dafne Keen, who plays Laura, most of you know by now (spoiler alert) that she is Logan's daughter. Laura is a complete badass! The action scenes with Logan and Laura are so thrilling, they leave you wanting more. The action you do see is at the level of badass that has been craved for in "superhero" films. So a few days ago I went with a friend and saw the movie Split, written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It was good... I can't believe I just wrote that a Shyamalan movie was good... What is this world coming too... Anyways, James McAvoy was perfect for this role, after watching his performance I can't picture any other actor taking the role. When he changed between personalities he completely became a different character, he could just change his facial expressions ever so slightly, and you would know that he is someone else know. Anya Taylor-Joy, a young 20 year old actress, who played the character Casey Cooke, gave an excellent performance, I can't wait to see more of her work. She truly could be a rising star. There was a subtleness about the camera work that added something more to the film, which added a layer of depth that can only be seen through watching this yourself. So, the other day I went and saw the movie La La Land. To be honest, I thought that it would be good, but I didn't realize that it would be that good. The lighting was well done, the music was enjoyable, the dancing was superb, the acting was great!  The transitions to the musical elements of the film was well done. Especially for someone who is not that into musicals.  It was impressive all around. Props to the camera operators.  Damien Chazelle (Also the Director of Whiplash) did a great job with his direction in the way he has taken this film. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone have done amazing job's acting in this, in my opinion they really became the characters that they were portraying on the big screen. You know when you're at the theater and your drink is almost gone and you know if you take another sip, you're going to make a slurping sound, but you think, "I'll just do it quick, besides I'm kind of thirsty, hopefully no one will really pay any...
