The Quintessentialist

So a little while ago I saw the movie, The Witch on amazon, and I thought that it was a pretty good movie. The movie takes place in the 1600's where a Puritan family has be banished from the community, and now this family must venture out into the wilderness, making their own home and try to survive all while a witch may be reeking havoc amongst them. This movie is written and directed by, Robert Eggers. I could be wrong but I believe that this was his very first film. I thought after seeing the movie that he did do a good job. This movie was shot in 1.66:1 aspect ratio which is a nice aesthetic. In some ways it does have an arthouse feel to it, but it's not overbearing. The films musical score adds another layer to the story that gives it a creepy vibe, and a sense of uneasiness that follows and builds the tension every time that it is played.
