The Big Sick Movie Review

So a few hours ago I saw the film The Big Sick, and I know, I know, I'm a little late to review this one. But I saw it and it deserves a review!
The film follows the relationship of Kumail (played by Kumail Nanjiani) and Emily (played by Zoe Kazan) and things go pretty well for them until theres a fight between them and Emily gets sick, and from there I can't give any more of the plot without giving spoilers.
I have to say that this is a really enjoyable film! The acting is Top Notch, pacing is well done, the sound track blends perfectly into the film and brings a nice touch to it.
The film is based on and written byEmily V. Gordon, and Kumail Nanjiani and the story of how they met, basically.
For the most part the comedy is done really well, and there are more than a few laugh out loud jokes contained within this film.
The dynamic between Kumail and his family and the family of Emily's is really interesting and provides different views of clashing cultures that Kumail must figure what works for him.
There were a couple moments that I cringed a little but those turn out to be kind of rare in The Big Sick.
It was also a pleasant surprise to see Bo Burnham as a side character in this film.
Overall this movie is a hidden gem that should gain more attention, and deserved a wider release than it received, I plan on buying this when it comes out on DVD.

final score: 4.5/5

Coda Movie Review

Coda Movie Review This Deserved Best Picture So, I just got back from seeing Coda, and it was amazing! This was the second attempt to see this film as the first time, someone booked the entire theater for a private screening. I'm going to take from a summary from IMDB to summarize the plot: " As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents." The acting was  phenomenal, the  cinematography was beautiful, and the story was human. The way this film is crafted is nothing short but excellent. I will not that not everything is 100% accurate, but for narrative reasons, I understand the choices they made. The actors have amazing chemistry together. Everything feels natural between them and they all bring their characters to life. No per...
